I watched a programme on BBC three today that was aired last night ( and last week) called Autistic Superstars

I was quite moving, sad but also had some funny bits in.It also shows how everyone expects that everyone understands each other - they dont!

BBC Three are running a series of programes on Autism and how it affects people from the Autistic child to the Autistic Adult their families and freinds

If you know nothing of Autism then see this for an explanation.

Ive not read it but have an Autistic son so understand some of it - it can be quite complex and every Autistic child/adult is different.

Hope some of you are interested and do read some of it and it will help you understand how these people get on in life and how the likes of me and my family have to cope.

hi i have been watching that program and it is very interesting,it is so hard for the parents they all do a great job.the second part is on tonight.my daughter is finished collage this year and hopes to go into this field.well done to the bbc.:)

wow Babs thats fantastic news - its a hard job BUT satisfying has lots of down moments but also thousands of up moments.

Last night i sat up here and watched the driving school one on iplayer- i cant believe there are 2 Autistic driving instructors on the UK at the woman on the programme is a level 6 and is teaching other driving instructors how to deal with Autistic people - FANTASTIC!!!
I saw my own sons acheivements as he was growing up and the milestones he made.

I also used to working a primary school with Autistic children. One young lad i worked with it took almost a year to get him to be able to catch a basket ball. When he finally did it was so happy i cried and ran around the garden with him, clapping laughing and well the joy on his face - although i dont think he understood bless him, I told the SENCO and the rest of the staff i was so please that we had finally achieved something, couldnt wait to see him mum to tell her - ME i helped him acheive that and it meant so much to me. When you do it with your own children its fantastic but when you achieve something liek that with a child your working with its means even more to know that i had the time patience and undertstanding to help this young lad. Sadly he had to leave the school to go to a specialist until when he was 6 and i lost my job. I had worked with him for 3 yrs But hope he is doing well now
