What's the best option for extra channels in 2018

With my family ditching Sky in 4 days time, I've changed the box to a ZGemma H2S, bought from this site's official supplier. A couple of quid extra, but I wanted official support in case anything went wrong.

All set up nice and easy with the latest version of Wooshbuild. Freesat skin is a nice change from Sky, though I might go for Virgin.

Question is, what is the best option for extra channels? Not so fussed about Sky as it must have been months since I watched anything, other than having the occasional football match on in the background. I'm looking for a fairly cost-effective option that I can get an EPG with. Irish, American and Australian channels would suit, but also foreign language channels would be nice.

Also, anything worth adding that's not on the official Wooshbuild. I'm pretty tech savvy, but am just getting a feel for things, first impressions are great though

if you have VM then you would have been better with an H2H , or even better a Formuler F1
loads of channels on eurosats,
but been bad reports of zgemma driving motorised dishes
you could still go for multisat on single dish

Just got the Sky dish (fixed), never had VM, just liked the skin

well, if you want Irish, American, Aus channels then you are looking at IPTV,
and you better be very easily pleased with picture quality and continuity of service to be satisfied with that
along with glitching, freezing, and no service on any channel during 3pm KOs on EPL

Sure, if you take the unbelievably crap IPTV that 99% of the resellers on here punt (and pretend not to be resellers for).
Mine rarely glitches, rarely freezes, and all 3pm games including Celtic TV and Rangers TV work perfectly and not a VPN in sight..........

Have to agree with Rusty, mine is spot on, supplier is very contactable, no VPN needed here in ROI. I can watch any match - 3pm's inclusive, it doesn't glitch or freeze any more or less than the excellent SKY line I had, once upon a time.
I have and use VM ROI for the most part, but when footie is on, IPTV is more often than not my option.
For what the OP is asking for ( american, Irish, foreign language, etc.) IPTV is indeed the man, it is merely a case of finding the right one - Take plenty of tests, I say then buy a month, and if you are still satisfied after that, get a year.

Cheers for the help, IPTV looks to be the way forward, I’ll take a look around and will look for one that offers a free trial first

the thing is Russ, you couldn't have got American and Australian channels before (using Sky) unless you had a motorised dishes etc and even then it would have been a tall order unless I have been grossly misinformed. I realise that Cable isn't an option for you and you just like the look of the skin, but if you live in a cabled area then this is by far the best way forward, (no USA/ AUS/ 3PM KO) but as others have already said, 99% of IPTV is highly unlikely to have what you are looking for so take tests, then some more tests and finally, some more tests.
Remember that sat lines still offer 100+ channels though your dish, so you may want to watch some (most?) channels through that rather than your router if data is a factor

Are you saying that if you take out a sat line there will be over 100+ channels available? excluding the freesat? Without the need for motorised?

if you've only got a sky dish at present, you could nudge it from 28.2e to 23.5e. Or you could move i round to 19e or 13e depending on what channels you're interested in & seek a sub just for one sat...
