I have a VPN and it works great. Whether it's entirely necessary is open to question so I tend to leave IPTV and sat box running through VPN router and when there's something big on like the football today I swap IPTV Ethernets over to main full speed box.
Down side of VPN is the reduction in service speed etc. My speed gone from 70 to 10 and ping from 20 to 40+ ms.
but it works well and keeps the prying eyes away when I wish it. Tin foil hats and all that hay chaps.
You can run OpenVPN direct on your E2 box, no need for special router.
Setup right, on the right server (near to your stream host) you will not see a dramatic loss of speed.
If anything, you will overcome ISP blocking, rate limiting etc. which can result in better speeds.
I run my VPN on port 443, so it looks like SSL traffic.
Do you just straight swap the vpn router with my talk talk one . . .I tried to ddwrthe a netgear one but struggled . . .I'd prefer a router for the home rather than my box as I've kodi on my tv and then multi on 2 zgemma also stream occasionally through a tab
