Why are most IPTV streams still H.264

Just a newbie wondering why most IPTV streams are still H.264 instead of H.265?

How would a provider go who only offered a better compressed stream? Would it only be a niche market?

It depends on your provider, alot of providers have moved to 265 and personally everyone should be as its alot more stable
Anyone with old boxes, they must be really old and it's about time to upgrade especially when you can pick up a firestick for about £30 on offer
Especially with the savings you've made over the years it's worth the investment

H264 has been going on for a while so some suppliers haven't changed. I guess with time it'll go ahead to h265 as the main. But h265 is still relatively new.
