WiFi Dongle question

Hi
I'll be taking my Xpeed LX2 with us in the motorhome in a couple of weeks so I'll be tethering it to a 4G hotspot from my phone which should power the line.
I've already checked with the place we're going for signal availability which is positive.
I'm just wondering which wifi dongle would you recommend.
Thanks in advance
Adrian

One of my neighbours has a V8s in his caravan and he uses a TP-Link TL-MR3020 wireless router and Huawei E5830 modem and he does OK with it, increased glitching but he's ok with it plus his wife uses her laptop too so maybe he should leave the wife at home, lol

I've just had a look and that setup only does about 7mbits. When my phone is doing its job it's putting out about 35 mbits down and 12 up

but speed has nothing to do with a line, you can run a line of a 2mb connection mate its all about stability and the TP link does up to 150mb too so don't use the Huawei

Hi, maybe slightly off topic but wifi question none the less. Can any WIFI dongle be used in an Openbox VS8. I have several mini usb dongles lying about bought for PC use.( no antennae on them though) Would they work (b4 i go messing about) Thanks

These work fine with the Openboxes.Obviously not as stable as a wired connection but does a good job

Try not to use Wi-Fi or Mobile connection unless you have no choice, if your box is not near the router for a direct connection then look at getting homeplugs as this is a good option as its as good as a direct cable connection

Thankyou both for two good replies...that 1 thing off the bucket list of setting this dam openbox up...beginning to think that i should have bought one all ready setup...never mind love a learning curve. Next question on a new thread. If your sh*t hot on Openbox i could do with a lot more advice. BTW Impossible to use Lan if box goes upstairs but got decent enough wifi sig. If box goes downstairs then it will be Lan thats currently feeding SkY Digi Box

Hi BW
My phone and network support USB tethering; have you any idea if this will work with the xpeed lx2.
Would I need to add drivers to the box for it to happen? Cheers for any help
Adrian

Thanks everyone
Just an update to Wifi Dongle
I used one of these Golden Interstar Xpeed LX2 WiFi Dongle | eBay it arrived within 2 days
I stuck it in the back usb port and rebooted
I turned tethering on and used my phone as a hotspot
Set it up in Network settings
It works really well and the bandwidth usage is minimal.

Cheers
Adrian
