I definately would inform your insurers and you need to get the flue swept by a certified sweep every 12 months. About £60 is the going rate around here, North Warks.

I phoned my insurance company and said there is no option on the insurance quote to mention a log burner and they said you do not need too as long as it is installed correctly and registered with Hetas also sweep every year there is no problem.

If they have it listed I'd be honest. Insurance companies will find any excuse to not pay out. Doesn't matter if it's flood, weather or fire damage. If they clock you have a wood burner and didn't mention it when specifically asked about it they'll have your pants down.

If it's the best insurance quote you can find online I'd phone them up and ask for details on what they need for it to comply with the policy.

I have not got a problem mentioning it but as i said there is not a option to mention it on any online quotes that's why i phoned to ask

I have had a stove now for a long long time, as long as it was installed by a reputable dealer, and it’s kept in tip top condition, your good to go , and I’ve never had to mention separate on any policy at least in my time.
