Put the update on usb stick,go to upgrade by usb it should say upgrade mode image file . Below that it should say upgrade file v8 v6 150519 below that keep dbs and setting weather below that start. Press start. Once flash has finished your box will reboot. Then goto menu/ epg and time setting. Switch satellite to internet (xmltv) go down to xmltv settings. Switch auto update to on and then press red button. Epg should now work. Enjoy!!

Thanks I've done all that then it just fails at the last min saying no disc space, very frustrating!

Hi fellas, right ive done the update and its worked!! I must admit my heart was racing doing it just incase it went wrong

All good though, the only problem i seemed to have was when i ran the update on the EPG the "write back to disk" part took over 25mins??

I never used to take that long, now it that what it should do or is it my usb stick? Also i have a small external formatted to FAT32, can i use that insead of the the USB stick as it will prob be faster and i can recored more onto it.

I understand i have to leave the USB in now all the time but can i swap it over to the external hard drive now or am i stuck with the USB?

Thanks in advance.

Ricky

I know your pain my friend. It took me about 15 attempts. Switching from usb to hdd until it finally worked. Have noticed that my hdd sometimes disconnects and takes a while to reconnect. Maybe this is your problem?. Try giving it a bit more time after boot before trying it. Ive also been told it needs to be a 2gig usb or bigger. Has your firmware changed in information panel?. Does your box boot with a blue skybox splash screen or still with black and white openbox screen. I am quite new to this myself so don't really know what else to tell you. I just did all above and it finally worked.

Hi mate glad it worked for you and yes I am now using a Seagate 1TB hdd for epg and recording. If you change over you will have to update epg again for hdd. It shouldn't take that long though. Maybe your stick is usb 1.0 or 2.0!. My hdd is usb 3.0 and it only takes about 1 and half minutes!

Ive just tried to install this fix on my V5s, however after ive gone through the 'upgrade by USB' screen, left it on .abs, chose correct file and clicked start, i get a message stating that upgrade data too large. Any idea how to get around this? I formatted the USB to FAT32 if that could have made a difference.

Hi Happy Hooker, i used this fix here: http://www.techkings.org/skybox-f3-f5-f6/70570-f3s-f5s-150519-fixed-bug-epg-xmltv-download.html

Sorry i posted it on the wrong thread, if you follow the same procedure but use the image found on the thread ive posed above.

The fix in this thread doesnt work on the V5s but the one in the thread ive posted above works fine on my V5s box.

Hope this helps ;)

Ricky

Read the forum posts carefully and you will find so called fixes for V6/V8---V8s--V5s---V7---F3s/F5s all in separate posts.
Load firmware as image [.abs]file then upgrade epg via XMLTV app. You cannot upgrade epg without using the latest f/w first.

Wish I was the man, I'm as much as you in the dark---no-one at any of the companies has given out any info despite constant e-mails and contact calls.
Sorry.

I noticed the same thing last night on a V6. It was showing the 1903 date & showing ?????? where the time & date should be on the programme info.

I tried deleting the 21.fci & 21.fpg files & installing the EPG again, but with the same result, even after rebooting the box a few times.

Turned the box on this morning, & EPG back to normal! :dunno:

Well it's doing it again & I just can't suss out what's causing it.

I hadn't used the V6 for a few days so the XMLTV needed updating. I noticed straight away that the Current Date was showing 25/11/1903. It updated the XMLTV OK, showing a date of 14/06/2015. However the Current date is stuck on 25/11/1903, so I get no EPG & no time & date info.

I have tried 2 memory sticks. Formatting them to FAT32 first. I have put the box into standby & even removed the PSU for 10 minutes, but still the same.

Hi, I'm new at this how would I install the XLMTV to my V8s? Im guessing this is for the EPG to work? Thanks in advance :whacko:
