Zgemma H.2H IPTV Recording Problem

Hi,

I am having problems with HD IPTV recordings on my Zgemma H.2H. The problem I have is when I schedule a recording on a channel broadcasting in 1080 it records but in the movie list it shows the time as 26h 30m or 1 min. When I playback the recording it plays all the way through but after the first minute it sometimes goes into - minutes for a while and sometimes shows 1590 minutes remaining, if I skip through the recording using the number buttons it stops and goes back to the movie list, fast forward works upto 8x but any higher it sometimes closes, if I stop the recording it has to be started from the beginning. 576 recordings work perfect exactly the same as when recording Freesat channels the problem only seems to be with HD recordings.

I am currently using Wooshbuild, I have also tried OpenVix from the Zgemma site and iPab the problem is there on all three firmware's.

I have copied a recording to my PC and it does the same in VLC media player as it does on the Zgemma player.

I have tried converting the .ts to .avi on my PC, this worked and played back fine but it took around 2 hours to convert a 1 hour recording to avi so this option isn't ideal.

Can anyone suggest a solution to make the HD streams record properly?

Thanks.

That's interesting. I'm afraid I don't have a solution but I have the identical problem. I am using ipab on a vu+ solo 2.
However all my recordings stop after a minute or so even thiuth the system shows them being 26h 24m.
It's annoying.

Hi,

I have done some more testing since starting this thread, i have changed to a more reliable provider, this made some difference but the problem is still there. Another thing I did was made sure all the IPTV channels are 4097 gstreamer format using echannelizer. This causes the box to record in .stream format instead of .ts. Although the problem is still there it is less when recorded in .stream.
I have also found that when i record US tv channels they work perfect the problem only seems to be with UK channels.

And I find that the UK streams are fine in the main but majority of problems are with the us channels. Maybe it's the provider source that's the problem?

Yes it could be although when I watch the channels live they are always fine, no glitches or buffering. I find 576 and 720 record fine, thats probably why my US channels record as that are nearly all 720. All my UK ones are 1080. I am using a usb 3 stick and I have tried an old 80gb PS3 hard drive. The next thing I'm going to try is a new drive, maybe ssd see if its that makes any difference.

Hi, Recordings seem to be working fine now. They are not 100%, but most of the time they record fine. I did the following:
1. Replaced my 64gb USB stick with a 320gb HDD. The usb wrote at 16mb/s the HDD writes at 25mb/s, this didn't really make any difference.
2. I changed from Wooshbuild to the latest openvix from the zgemma web site, this made a big difference so I suspect vix handles streams better than wooshbuild on my device.
3. I found some channels record better when streamed in HLS format inatead of .ts so I have added both sets of bouquets to my device and I schedule the recording on the format that streams the best.
