i did, cables were not loose, but so far hard drive connected to usb port working fine, fingers cross.

they may not have been lose but could still have a fault I would still try new cables or you could even check PCB for loose solder joint.

Glad you have found a solution.
now you have it working for sure maybe you should try it inside again. I know its a faff but at least you know the file system is correct now so if it still doesn't show its likely a circuit board or wiring problem.

just leaving it now, working fine now with usb hard drive, so dont want to mess it with it. The person i bought it from said he would change the box for another , but as i said as its working ok now i'll leave as the box is fine.

If i remove zgemma h7s box remove hardrive will i have to initialise harddrive again

Dont think so , just check storage as its seen and ext4 listed then should be ok.

No everything will remain the same if you don't use the HD for anything else while its removed.
