Ive dld vlc before but couldnt figure out how to play files with it. I thought on this box was maybe just for streaming or something. Love it on pc.

Ive dld vlc before but couldnt figure out how to play files with it. I thought on this box was maybe just for streaming or something. Love it on pc.
vlc is just a frontend for a streaming server on vix image. won't play anything natively.
Currently ftping a couple of avi files to hdd to test for you.

Avi files are playing back perfectly for me.
Don't know if any off the things I have tried are responsible. May have been ok before, just don't know

Two more things that I tried:
cache-flush seems to help slightly and media streams seem smoother if you enable multi refresh rate in a/v settings (assuming your tv supports them).
I still think that enabling hardware caching on hdd would probably help, (makes a big difference on windows systems), but I can't find out how to enable this on a Linux receiver.
If anyone knows how to do this, then please post here.
