If your going to mount a HDD for recording and playback just use that for the EPG as well.
EPG data is considered "live" data in that it is only read from or written to its storage media at bootup or shutdown times (or during a EPG download), the rest of the time it's held in the flash so using a HDD wont make any difference over a USB stick in this instance. Just don't save the EPG to the flash as it is very easily corrupted and if that happens it will very quickly fill the flash rendering the box unbootable needing a reflash or the flash cleaning out.
I would however strongly recomend that you use a externally powered HDD as the bus powered ones can be problematic as they tend to draw too much or too little power from the receivers USB port and this can cause the drive to misbehave (This is true of ALL E2 boxes).

I have now re-flashed and installed Wooshbuild and that has solved the issue. I have the epg on the HDD aswell and seems to be working fine so will leave it at that.
I purchased a usb powered hdd as the general concensus when i was looking was that usb powered were fine to use.
