Skybox F5 channel scrambled help

nomez

Newbie
Good day,

Ordered a F5 last week, search for tutorials and didnt find much help with them. At first i was trying to get the FTA channels which was quite difficult but after answers to my questions i found out that the dish was misaligned and the LNB was dead. Now, i have the fta channels which is sorted.

Moving on, i now wish to unscramble the channels via the cline (im assuming TK openly talks about it). I have AJs channels list installed, i go to menu>settings>upgrade by usb>green tick CCcam option>upgrade to which is does it 100%. I then exit it all, pull the dc out on the box and the router, wait 5 mins and power up the router first till it finds the network and then power up the skybox, however the channels are scrambled still.

The green dot is on the ethernet tab when in network setting and the DHCP is set to on.

The ethernet cable is wired into the superhub (does superhub hinder anything?) and into the skybox. The cable is fine as i used that cable to play on the ps3 so i know it works.

However, i have a feeling that it is not connected to the internet because usually on the superhub when there is activity the light on the rear flashes, it doesnt when connected to the skybox and i dont know if the light on the skybox by the ethernet port should flash either?

I access the youtube app and it doesnt load which kind of confirms the above, so what have i not activated or done?

Thanks for your help.

is your line on correcly? is it still in date and active? you can check your line here menu>network local settings>CAMDS SETUP>CCcam client set up>manage config files>(option 1)CCcam .cfg it should say ONLINE

if you dont have CAMDS SETUP in your right hand list then press menu>network local settings then press 6666 CAMDS SETUP option should appear on the right

Sounds like you are on the right lines, and your box is not connected to the net.

In Menu - Network Local Setting - Network Settings
You should have a green light over the Ethernet option and a red box around the word active to show the box is getting a signal from your router.
If you press ok it tests the connection.

Also

Go into the menu and check the status of your line, in edit mode ( the next one down from upgrade by usb)

Menu - Network Local Setting - Camds Setup - CCcam Client Setup - Manage Config Files - CCcam.cfg

It should say "online" with a little green tick next to it, if it doesn't then put a tick by it using the (green) active button and see if it will connect.

You might have to reboot the box after you have make the changes.

You should get flashing lights at your hub and rear of the box, even when the box it is on standby.
(It might be the cable)

Thanks for the replies guys.

sb18180 - i just read on one of the tutorials about the hidden 6666 menu which i will have to try when i am back at work. The server provider has told me the server is fine and working as well. Youp*rn does not load up either which further confirms about no internet connection.

Bees - Okay, i shall try that tonight when back from work. I think to check the status of the line i have to go to the 6666 menu? Because on the settings menu all there is: Information, Factory Settings (which i have done before) CA Slot setting, Upgrade by USB, Dump by USB and Remove USB device safely. There is no option for edit mode.

Thank you for confirming that i should have fashing lights, i thought as much and now i definately know its not connected to the internet. Btw, the cable works fine as mentioned before as thats what i used for my ps3 online gaming.

There is a green light (circle) on this tab, and I think the red box just indicates what word you are on as I switch left and right, the same red box is there. When I press ok is says "Active interface OK!". Setup just allows me to switch the DCHP on or off which I have on.

When I enter this menu after going into the secret menu, its says: 1 C: Server Bunch on number n letters Numbers offline green tick.

For some reason it has the green tick and offline???? Does that mean the server is offline or that the connection between the internet is offline? Server provider has emailed me a new .cfg after emailing that the first one isn't working. Ill try that now.

Some reason I cant get internet to my box, would my superhub prevent anything? After all its only an internet connection.

I have just wiped everything and reloaded the cline and still says scrambled. The both you apps aren't working and the server menu says offline with a green tick. :(

Seems connecting to the internet is the problem.....

Ive just upgraded to the 27 03 2013 firmware and its still wont connect to the internet...... no youtube, no youp*rn and no flashing lights :'(

then try a different lan cable you may be using a cross over cable which is different also make sure your router is not set to wifi only. other than that you are doomed to freesat without internet.

I have tried a different one lol, the lan cable definately works because it works with the ps3 fine.

I logged on to my 192, and the internet settings are fine. Its not on modem mode or wifi only.

Emailed the guy and he has offered to refund but i paid for a server and i still need a box, lol. The box being brand new, surely it cant be faulty?

its been known bad/dry joint where ethernet port goes into circuitboard. remember these are made in china(top quality lol) and have travelled along way. i would take him up on his offer then if the next one does the same something your end. or try your box on someone elses router it does not have to be connected to a satdish for youtube to work.

You might be right, would like to try every avenue before sending it back. Will try it at my parents house as well.

Did you load your line as shown in the tutorial here
see (Post 10)

Bees,

I loaded it this way > format to fat32 > transfer file > enter settings > upgrade via usb > select .cfg (3rd one down) > press yellow to upgrade > reboot router and box > reboot > get mad.

However i did not do the open notepad and do it that. Does that make a difference? Wil that primarily effect the internet connection? I think thats the problem here.

Yes I think you might be right, you should have lights
flashing at the box, thats why I keeping thinking its a cable
problem, could be the port on the box too.

But as it is also showing "offline" I was also thinking the line
details aren't entered correctly.

Did you get a CFG file supplied ? Is it C or N ?

Have you checked it looks like the example in the tutorial
Just open it in notepad or wordpad.

I will have a mess about with my box when I finish work
and see what message I get if I unplug my ethernet cable

I would try it in another house as you say and see what happens.

Thaks for the reply Bees,

Would a crossover ethernet cable make a difference? I will buy a new ethernet cable but i fear it wont make a difference.

I did get a file which was called "CCcam.cfg". Im not sure if it is C or N but what might asnwer that is in the manage CCcam.cfg menu it does say "1 C: Server".

Thanks again

Ok, I was wondering if there might be a typo when entering the
line but if you have got a cfg file supplied it's not likely.

I put in a line with some details changed and the status flashed between "login - offline"
with the ethernet lead attached so it's not likely to be that.

I disconnected my ethernet cable and had a look at the status with the correct line details
and it stayed as "offline".

I then just put the ethernet cable in to the back of the box and a few seconds later the box must have logged in
and the status went to "online"

So, given no flashing lights at the back of the box, it points to the cable or ethernet port problem on the box.

Got this off a cable supplier website:
"These crossover cables are not suitable for Router to PC, Xbox, PS3 or Sky Box. (These require our Cat5e straight through snagless or moulded boot patch leads.)"

If your lead works with your PS3, then it looks like a fault on your box.

its not typo he has no youtube or youporn working = box not connected to internet also has no ethernet light on box or router. wifi connection is an option but they can be a nightmare to set up to some routers, and you get picture freeze dropouts ect.

Yeah, thats what i thought, but just wanted to rule it out. Was trying to work out if it was the box or cable at fault.
