USB drive giving format drive message

Hi all need help, my usb went from working to giving me a message saying format drive.I downloaded some free softare to recover it but only partially successful,please help

Can u explain im more detail. When u say usb do you mean the port or a drive you put in? What format was it and how big is the file and drive. More info you share easier it will be to give u corect advice

Your usb drive is infected by virus ,and there is no free software which can recover your data it can only show your data but you can't recover it , only paid version of software can help you.
