Zgemma h17 combo freeze

hi - I have recently purchased a Zgemma h17 Combo, Im using openatv image 7.4 but after some time running the box freezes on me. I cant seem to find the issue. I had thought it could be the Xtreme Editor plugin I installed, but I have since uninstalled and find the same issue. Box freezes. The freeze is not the blue screen or a restart , its just an all out freeze where nothing will work , the remote is unresponsive and unuseable (also not remote batteries) all that works is a power button reset and it comes back on.

ANy help or advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated , thanks
 
Have you tried switching off and then when comes back on put on anther image or skin
Is it a multi boot box as if so could add other openatv image and switch between to see if that help
Might just be problem with image so reinstall and go from there
I would doubt it’s XE APP
I assume that problem is not with any subscription to IPTV that you may have

Flash another slot with openvix and see if that resolves it. You could post the flash log which should say what the issue is.
 
If its the version with the internal HDD and not the slot at the rear and was bought secondhand its toast. The may not post back .

Another thought if have external drive in slot at the back( I don’t know about your box) if one installed switch off the box then unplug the external drive and then switch on and see if any better
 
Thanks this is good advice , I will try all of this - it should be fine as it's brand new and bought directly from zgemma website. I will let the forum know how I get on.

I would also try another PSU. If the start getting weak this could be a possible reason although they usually freeze at start up when they start to go.
 
I never got to sort this issue and still have the box put aside, maybe it was never meant to be. I am now looking for another box with similar traits. Maybe someone could put me in the right direction, thanks for your help.
 
Your first post was 7 May and you said box bought recently that means it came with a 12 month guarantee and can be replaced but if you did not try any of the above suggestions then getting a different box would be a waste of money.

The best image for that box is Openvix and if I was you i would flash that, if you are not sure what to do just post back.

By the way I misread box as an H7 and not the later h17.

Finally if you do want a new box you should say how much you want to spend.
 
Hello, I'm also having problems with my Zgemma H17 Combo. After a while, it freezes about 3 images and then does this again. The problem is that I have no way of knowing when it's doing this. It can be fine for hours and hours, and if I simply open something on it via the web, it suddenly crashes just from doing that. This is the second box I've tested that does this. The place where I bought it sent me one to test and see if I had the same problem. I have very little configuration; I have a CI+ module in it, and I only update the CI+ Helper module so that the module reads it. I don't do any other configuration. I bought it from an official store, and supposedly it's new. I have two because the second one was sent by them because I presented proof that the first one wasn't working properly. That was at the end of January. I have OpenATV 7.6.


NOTE: I'm going to use this thread with the same problem so as not to clutter the forum with more threads of this kind.
 
Instal older openatv image such as 6.4 and then install build you want wooshbuild etc and see how that goes
 
OK, but should I flash it right away for the intended one, or should I wait until 6.4 to see if it crashes? The thing is, there are two images for this multi, the multi and the eMMC, which one is more suitable?

If you have multiboot put the openatv one 6.4 and then image of choice am sure there are details for you to do this on your box
Download openatv image on pc and transfer onto usb stick and plugin on back
I don’t have that box I have h9twin so cannot advise exact method but older image is worth trying in case issues with latest one
 
OK, but I flash the 6.4 image using a USB drive, understood, and then flash it online with another image I want, or do I do that from the USB drive as well?
 
Can you answer a quick question, where are you saving the EPG? And do you actually need openatv for the CI to work? That box is not very good. 7.6 is iffy but as both boxes went wonky I'd put 2 and 2 together.

As they say, cheap is not always good and good is not cheap😏

That abcom pulse would be a far better option.
 
Don't flash openatv.6.4 as it's outdated now,and wooshbuild is long gone.
What storage are you using??
Have you changed your epg storage location from internal?
Is your storage mounted correctly??

No, I just flashed it, and all I did was what I already said, I only updated the CI+ Helper because of module compatibility, and I tuned the channels, the channels work normally, but hey, it can crash at any moment, even without doing anything...
