Why do 4K Channels Constantly Buffer?

I have a 144Hz TCL gaming TV connected to my Xbox Series X via HDMI 2.1, which works perfectly. I connect my Homatics r 4k plus box to one of the HDMI ports that supports 4K @ 60Hz. Because I’ve tried plugging the IPTV box into the 120Hz HDMI port, but it doesn’t seem to work well there. For whatever reason, the Homatics box runs much more reliably on the 60Hz port.

But after some testing, I’ve concluded that it's a provider issue, especially during high-traffic events like PPVs or weekend football performance noticeably drops on (Astro 4k, now sports 4k, TNT) Not consistent at all....
Try a Vpn

I've tried a few IPTV providers now, and one frustrating issue keeps coming up: 4K channels are almost always unwatchable due to constant buffering. I have 500 Mbps Community Fibre internet and my Homatics box is connected via Ethernet – not Wi-Fi – so bandwidth and connection quality shouldn’t be the problem.

It seems like anything in 4K at 50/60 FPS just chokes. Is this normal across the board? Are these 4K streams just not ready for prime time, or am I missing something? Honestly, what's the point of offering 4K channels if they’re unwatchable?

Would appreciate any thoughts or tips.
I'd say definitely your provider. Mine works perfectly.

Just read that your Homatics box has 2 hdmi ports. One is hdmi 2.1 and other is hdcp2.2. Hdcp ports look exactly like hdmi ports but built for a different function. Google hdcp and see how it can interact with 4k streams.

Mine only has 1 HDMI port, I just checked. That article you read is wrong maybe? However, I've recently changed provider a week ago. My service seems to be working a lot better now, although it's not perfect, but at least I can watch 80-90% of a UHD football matches without interruptions. Sometimes I need to quickly find another channel. I also noticed them HK now Premier League channels are terrible! Is that the case with other people?

i seem to be having same problem ive paid for a month and the 4k choice is superb but the non stop freezing is just unwatchable.my main supplier which only has 2 uhd channels is perfect.

must accept monthly payment before i commit to long term.

You already have your answer - its provider related and not device. Seems like the recent punt hasn't paid off.............

I think theres a thread/post somewhere about bandwidth costs to supply 4K streams so provider probably doesn't have the resource or streams are incorrectly labelled..........

This is why you take trials during peak times to see how different service's perform. It's either your setup/device or supplier is not geared up for streaming those channels but I would think it's more your side than his. Try streaming those on your phone using the mobile data if they still freeze move on.

Yeah it's definitely a provider issue. My new provider is more reliable so far, not perfect but can't complain. I was able to watch all of the football this weekend in 4k UHD on Sky Sports channel with no problems.

Obviously someone didn’t read your post correctly because you state your main suppliers UHD channels work perfect.
So it’s obvious it’s not your setup or none of the UHD channels would work. Just try other suppliers until you find one that works for you.

Reading between the lines you bought via the request section from a new or low poster member and did not follow the advise given on post 1.

Simple if you did ask for a refund as not happy with the service

i just wrote off the cost of the sub i am on a trial at the moment which is very good but only offers what i already have so will have to repost after 10 days im sure i will get the right one eventually.
