Relative newbie to both Techkings and Satellites reading lots of posts on here and other places

Currently have SkyqQ with a Sky Wideband LNB which i'm going to replace i'm looking at getting either a Viark Octogan or E2 or a dual box which includes IPTV options currently reading those pages

What LNB gives me the best option i've seen people mention the

Visiblewave 4K Quad LNB 4 Output HD for SKY HD/Freesat HD with Bracket : Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

or the

Pardon our interruption...

Would either of these work for me ? or would you suggest something else.

What would i be looking at cost wise in replacing the LNB with the new one would i need anything else would the existing cabling be fine or would new cabling be needed


i already have an installer in mind a local firm just wanted a rough guide of cost as i can't do it myself far too old lol

Either would work for use with a Viark.

If you still have a SkyQ box in use the Hybrid will do that and the Viark. The Viark only has a single tuner, so only one cable needed.

Existing cabling would be fine. You only need to add another run of cable from the hybrid if you need a sky q and Viark running from it.

I won't be using the sky q box going forward just a single box viark e2 octogon etc still undecided which one so no more cabling required ?

i do want to explore more about those boxes reading alot of the different product pages on here and other sites. thanks
 
Look at that Sky Q lnb closely and see if it has spare outputs. Then you can use existing cables just swop them over. If only 2 outputs then you need a new lnb and these are mostly quads ie 4 outputs.

It is a wideband LNB sadly no spare outputs would a hybrid or a quad be better for future proofing i'm not going to be using mulltiple boxes but would either enable dual recording on any of the sat boxes i mentioned i think ferret mentioned viark being a single tuner.

Just swap over the LNB with the cheaper one you posted.

If you can reach the LNB safely, it is easy to replace yourself instead of getting an installer.

I can't access the LNB myself i am going to get quotes when i've chosen the sat box i want

so the hybrid will be fine for all the boxes ii've mentioned ?

The hybrid is about 30 and the normal is 15. And either will be fine but bear in mind sky is phasing out satellite. I never intend to get sky Q.

No i haven't got to the latest posts as yet lots of reading still to do on lots of different boxes

my prefernce would be a Viark but happy to consider other boxes i'm not in any rush so now i know what LNB i need or want then i can move onto the different boxes

i do currently use IPTV with an nvdia shield so a dual sat/iptv would be an option or just a sat box for downstairs and have nvdia upstairs.
 
Tried loads of LNB's on my Gibertini OP125 including C120's with the Gibertini Feedhorn and still nothing comes close to the Iverto Black Ultra. It's been the best LNB for at least a decade now. When there were a few months a couple of years ago, where the EPL had feeds on 3W, it was the only LNB that would pick them up.
 
Always have it in mind when it comes to LNB's what is being said to be the best may well be on that particular dish brand, not necessarily so on another dish brand.

Gains and losses are very marginal between all these best ever LNBs anyway, and in a lot of cases one may perform better at certain frequencies or symbol rates only.
 
Still reading about the different boxes but i've narrowed it down to the octagon 8008 and and the viark apologies for any dumb questions i'm still learning

Would the quad LNB or another LNB give me the option of getting the octagon 8008 and then down the line get a viark or updated model if they are still around
i don't believe i can connect both at the same time though from one dish.

can either be used solely as an iptv player its an overkill i understand but how good is the iptv on both.

i see people having multiple sat boxes in their signiture but assume they have multiple satellites
 
A quad universal LNB will give you independent connections to both boxes and both can be used at same time from one dish.

The Octagon can use a IPTV plugin one example Bouquetmakerxtream
 
The best box to get with your system would be the uno4kse and you may already have an SSD. But you may be budget driven and sf8008 looks OK but it does not come with an internal SSD, it uses a INTERNAL PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD SLOT and thats not cheap but good. Its an extra. For iptv the uno4kse with E2 for IPTV is hard to beat.

I dont have a Viark or SF8008 so cant really compare.

For IPTV I would always go for a dedicated box.

If you put a quad lnb on the dish you can have 4 boxes but need 4 cables. I have cables all over the place and I have a UNICABLE but not good for motorised. I have 3 dishes.


But what you have if you want sport is pretty good.

thanks for the very detailed reply its appreciated mate i'll go look this Uno4kse up and get more info on it

I think with the 8008 you can add an external hd via usb 2/3 port i have tons of spare ssd and usb drives but obviously its not as good as an internal drive can the uno4k be used on a network ie you connect it to your router and it shows as a drive or server to play on other devices ?

Gonna show my lack of knowledge and terminology when it comes to sat boxes but whats Nicam/Oscam assume its a way to get certain servies like the forever servers or am i way off the mark
not even sure what info we can talk about on here

Does uno4kse have this option ?

for some reason some new posts are slow in showing not sure if its a me problem though probably is

thanks for the info about having two boxes connected i thought you couldn't do that

would extra cabling be required for connecting two boxes i've currently got a sky q box and two cables into that.
