I'm getting the feeling Amazon have already rolled out the update that will be used to blacklist all the apps. They won't need to do any more software update. They may just need to download the blacklist file from a different location. I think they have probably thought this through already before releasing the news.

So all the update blocking may be fruitless.

They probably had it in place when the started removing Flixvision or even before.

It prevents Amazon blocking apps with protective status Th apps that where already blocked byAmazon like flixvision you can do nothing about it

Not sure about that, but for those who did the no-update mod, you'd have to be careful.
You can just reverse the process, switch vpn off and tick any network updates you disabled. Factory reset will as befor. But it will update wot it likes then. Would just hang fire for now. There are cheap alternatives if it goes west.

It obviously works as you can't access Amazon prime on the firestick when Adguard is up and running
Only problem from the testing I have done is that Adguard doesn’t load up straight away. It takes some time after system boot up by which time Amazon is able to do updates. So this method will not protect you from updates.

it's fine for me. It shoud be set to to turn on at start up

Yes I noticed that myself. Does the update even matter though? once it's up and running theres no traffic between Amazon and the firestick. Surely they would need to be able to access your firestick to block a 3rd party app.

You can. It stops the playstore from working & voice control, but Prime Video works. I watched UCL last night,
I tried to watch a series on prime and it didn't connect. Not connecting this morning either. That's strange that you could watch the UCL. Iust check that this evening.

FireoOS would need to access Amazon servers to pull OTA metadata and the app blacklist for it to remove or block a blacklisted app.
If you have blocked access to the Amazon servers then this can’t be executed.
