ABOUT TIME ( DITCH THOSE FIRE STICKS )

I got Vontar r5 ATV tv box of ali express for my mate when fire stick goes pete tong, of aliexpress £26 it was. so i have been testing it out, i love it had on all last night works a treat, there button for mouse i keep touching goes onto mouse only, but press it again and goes normal buttons. pisses me of a bit, but if you want solid box cheap chips, id give it easy 8/10.
 
i an still using cube and still working flawless, i have thomson 270 pro as a back up both work exact same .
 
Jeez with so many boxes out there I guess it is down to personal choice and reading as much as you can about each box before deciding if they are a better alternative to the FStick 4K.
I think I am just going to wait until something happens with my FSticks (I have three in different rooms) that make me have to buy a different box, but all the advice on here is really helpful for me as I really am not technically minded. Thanks to everybody for your contributions on this post

The Tanix has the best CPU and the Vontar has the best GPU.
I can’t imagine you will get much support for these devices as they are budget range devices.
You might find reviews on these devices on YouTube and worth a look.
Also try to read some of the users reviews on Alibaba and Aliexpress as they can sometimes be helpful.
Also if you watch any content that is interlaced you may have image issues because of a bug in android 14.
 
Bought a shield for the Mrs and kids room. Never looked back. Have a pile of these firetv sticks and boxes and even rooted with custom firmware nothing beats the Nvidia shield pro 2019 IMHO. I've played with a lot of these android/androidtv devices when i went through a phase of tinkering with media players.

So we have the Shield and two UgoosAm6B+ box running corelec and elfhosted plex/stremio , Prowlarr , sonar, radarr etc etc. Mostly because we got fed up with intrusive surveillance of amazon and other state sponsored data collection.

Did get the am6b+ for DV FEL support as it is still available to buy unlike the Minix U22XJ with the same Soc.
Some of the newer Ugoos devices are worth looking at also for up to date codec support.

I've been offered a MXQ Pro 4k along with it's psu, mini keyboard, etc.

Don't mind pushing the boat out a bit more towards £60-70 if it means getting something a bit more beefier and more lasting tech-wise
 
Bought the MECOOL KM2 PLUS DELUXE HIGH SPEC MODEL .Excellent Andriod box .Its now based on Andriod 14 Very good internet speeds with Wifi and ethernet connected .Very responsive remote .Customised launcher and l.m settings loaded no problems.Adding sound bar or t.v remote no problems .Updated firt time
Would definitely recommend 👌
