I signed out of google as I have done before but this time it gave me the option of going to a basic home screen without the google crap controlling everything. Never had this option before and I like it.

There you go did you install the downloader app from the google app store before you signed out ? If not sign back in then install downloader then log back out.

You can then install all your app via downloader

Projectivy launcher is about the best launcher on Android but you have to pay to unlock some of the features. You will need to side load it as it’s only available from the playstore on devices running ATV os.

This is my settings menu. I've been through every section and there is no sign of the options you mention.

Do you have to press any buttons on boot up to get these options, like the secret menu on the old Humax pvr boxes?

Enter the email address and password into the box and it will bootup into the google launcher screen,

Once you install the apps via downloader you can delete the account.

That is the simplest way to setup that box

Got most of the required apps installed now but it was a nightmare. Just need to find and install the terrestrial apps like Iplayer, most of which are blocked in the play store!

I seem to have lost the option to organise and move the apps since I signed out of google. I had them sorted with the most used ones first but they have been put back to default!

I wonder is this software a copy of a licensed box with associated restrictions.

Is there any way of transferring my watchlist/favorites for the iptv apps from the firestick to the tx5? Maybe backup to usb? Or will the firestick file be in a incompatible format?

They may have changed these options in android 14.
I haven’t updated my current device to Android 14 due to current ongoing issues with android 14.
The Tanix laucher is based on the android TV launcher from what I gather but you should still be able to install a third party launcher if wanted to.

You can add and arrange your favourite apps on the home screen.

Certain apps like BBC Iplayer and ITVX ect ect will not install from the google app store on that box as its not certified.

You can get other versions that will work perfectly fine
 
The Tanix Launcher has a ATv look but i think ASOP running in the background as some ATv app wont run some wont install. Everything is trying to convince you it is ATv in the menus.

My TX5 Plus has dual Launcher i use Alice not ATv id like to know the firmware date on the box if that is possible @Turbo65

I didn't know what ASOP or ATV were but having googled them I would suggest that it fits the description of ATV quite closely, especially since the way functionality is restricted if you don't sign into google.
 
Got my phone sorted out now too.

They finally switched of 3G in this area today and my phones data stopped working. It is an old phone but it should be 4g compatible.
Tried the sim in a newer phone and 4g working fine.
So after a lot of googling and going through the phone settings I finally found something switched off that should have been on. Not sure how I had data before, I guess it was working somehow on 3g.
