IPTV through openbox

Am thinking of going the IPTV route and am nearly set to buy a mag 256w1
but before I do I just wanted to check that my openbox v8s doesn't support iptv??
Am I correct in my assumption? ive got a friend that reckons it does and another that says it doesn't. Confused .com ;)

If you search, there are people who state they run a IPTV sub off their V8S.

But, there's never anyone that gives a step by step guide how to do it.

The reaper has posted on how it's done but, if I recall, you have to decipher Chinese instructions!

Sorry - here is the text. Its a message from probably the biggest supplier if these bixes in the UK, who I always get my boxes from
Free IPTV for OPENBOX V8S & V9S Customers (1 month)

Great News for all the OPENBOX V8S & V9S users. As you are aware that some of the sports and kids premium channels have already being stopped and are not available under the normal subscription anymore.

For nearly a month (since 28 March) subscription providers have failed to fix this problem and have done nothing but keep on giving false hopes to the customers with promises to fix this problem soon. Which has created a state of confusion in customers and they are confused weather they wait for them to fix it or go for next option which is IPTV. Future is IPTV which is unstoppable.

And now it is speculated that very soon all the channels will be stopped.

In that case if all the premium channels are stopped OPENBOX customers will not be left with no service as manufacturer has decided to give customers all the premium channels via IPTV free for one month. This service will kicks in as soon normal service is stopped and customers will enjoy free IPTV for one month and later they can choose to find their own subscription or can pay to resume their subscription.

We will update you with all the details and how to renew once the service is started.

Sorry, forgot to add my thoughts that basically, it looks like there's no need to rush to change equipment just yet. I'm gonna sit tight for a while now.

I have setup several Openbox's on IPTV for customers in the last few days you just need to change the file name from whatever.m3u to WebTv.m3u upload it through Webtv app on your openbox (delete old channels on webtv first). the upside is it works quite well the downside is because you are uploading your m3u list so it doesn't update automatically unlike Mag, Smart tv's, Android etc. which if setup correctly will auto update channel lists and VOD.

There is only one big problem there and that is the fact the the openbox market is flooded by clone boxes,There are chineese manufacturers copying those boxes all the time so no wonder they are going to offer a free months service otherwise they would be useless other than freeview,That way they try and keep a market share by selling iptv,The only genuine firm that sells openboxes that are not clones are supplied by the good reaper and his chinnese friends,Do your self a big favour and get a dedicated iptv box like the magboxes

I loaded iptv sub onto a v8s the other day.
Worked surprisingly well.

All you have to do is rename your m3u list - WebTV.m3u
Transfer the file WebTV.m3u to your USB
Insert the USB
Press Menu
Go to Multimedia
Then WebTV
Press Yellow ( Ready by USB )
And it will load up.

Bit of pain navigating the menus but if you press left and right it skips 10 channels instead of holding up or down.
