2025 is here and no new shield on the horizon.... what do you recommend for my needs below?

So i have figured out that a lot of my remux files are dolby vision profile 7 and the cube does not support that. The only device that supports it is the ugoos am6b+ which requires flashing. (debating whether to fork out buying that for now tho)

Just thought i'd update the thread

Shield has issues with profile 7 apparently.

Again other 2 dont support. It is only the ugoos so far and even then it requires flashing
Sheild dose support it but not fully
Roku
Amazon 4k and cubes best bet
Gaming consoles

Pretty much any modern smarttv and android tv.

You may have to adjust some settings but they work

Although i dont think gen 2 cube supports full dolby atmos codec so you lose out

Even if you get the correct device apparently like i said there are other variables

Your tv will need to support it
Your sound bar aswell for atmos

The app you use.

Yes what i am saying is if you have a capable TV AVR system etc you wont get full atmos it will be lossy with gen 2 cube

Yes I am looking at upgrading my stuff. To get the best out of atmos looking at getting a theatre system

All money mate

My tv is fine my device is fine but better sound system would be good.

Firecube Gen 2 can support profile 7 but only if you buy a brand new one and break it first
No Android device can play DV P7 FEL correctly running Android os, you will need a certain Soc and the correct CoreELEC build running on a supported device.
The Ugoos am6+ is the best device for it as it has full support including vs10 processings.
I just use Kodi on android because it converts DV P7 to P8.1 and it makes a decent job unless you are a purist.
I also don’t want to keep rebooting back and forth from CoreELEC and Android.
For 800-900 movies or so and a handful of tv shows I don’t feel I am missing out tbh as loads of movies on the list I am not interested in.
Some devices and information regarding P7 FEL

HI

Interesting you brought this up, if understanding correctly if you flash the am6+ to work with profile 7 , can it NOT work as an android device at the same time?

No flashing required you just run CoreELEC from a usb stick and you have dual boot to either CoreELEC or Android.

Always a compromise mate and at the of the day are you really going to notice the difference.

Yes some of these things technically the specs are better but it comes to a point are you going to notice a huge difference

If I get 4k dolby atmos for a movie tv show i am generally happy.

Oh ok that's interesting. I looking at this potentially to watch my remux dolby files but also, use the android feature to run tailscale and stream of my enigma 2 receivers.
Can you install tailscale on the am6+?

I think between HDR and dolby vision you prob would notice, but i dunno about the MEL and FEL part i guess.
