AB PULSe 4K Rev. II tuner setup and recording issues

OK Looks like a cable issue, Some troubleshooting results below
  • Tuner A (Tuner B Disabled)Scan Set To Manual and as per previous picture (Single satellite/Network Yes/FTA Only No) = This pulls in 652 Services
  • The other way around with Tuner A disabled and scan on Tuner B, Scan = 0
  • Switch around cables - Tuner A - (Tuner B Disabled)Scan Set To Manual and as per previous picture (Single satellite/Network Yes/FTA Only No) = This pulls in 0 Services
  • Tuner B (Tuner A Disabled)Scan Set To Manual and as per previous picture (Single satellite/Network Yes/FTA Only No) = This pulls in 662 Services
It looks like the cable that was originally connected in the Tuner B is dodgy,

Also what I have noticed is that Both Sat Cables MUST be connected at the back of the receiver to get a signal, e.g. If I disable Tuner B and disconnect the physical cable from the receiver I cant get a signal on the box, same the other way around, testing both cables. The 2 Cables must be connected

have a good look at cable going to B and check to see if inner core touching outer braid, ie re do and check again but you have to check both ends.

Regarding both cables being connected, this should not be the case. What may be happening is that the receiver is remembering what tuner is in use and getting lost when one is no longer available to it. Alternatively, when both tuners are disabled, it thinks no tuner is available for the services on that satellite. A reboot or Enigma2 restart should resolve it.

Incidentally, you did not need to disable the tuners alternately when scanning with both cables connected. You can choose which tuner to scan with. I should not have posted that advice earlier. Sorry.

I suspect the f-plug worked loose when swapping receivers. You may wish to remove it and then re-attach instead of just checking.

I disconnected cable from Tuner B (Which may be the dodgy one) - I also disabled Tuner B in in set up - re-booted box a few times and no channels/signal
As soon as I reconnect the second cable the channels appear (Tuner B still Disabled)

When i need to see if i have a bad signal and strange 2 different readings and might be from 2 dishes.

Dish alignment is off by strong storms or winds.

On F connector do you see any black burnt marks on the tuners due to water ingress in cables.

You said dish was 15 years old but need to reread if lnb was replaced as they can fail also.

I note the content of the post on other forum with regards to LNB having a hole and a replacement being procured.

Please do not flash another image just yet. You do not want to add another variable to the equation.

Please devise a way of identifying your signal cables. For example, put some insulation tape on one of them.

Please be aware that the signal readings are dependent on drivers, so do not expect two different receivers to give identical readings.

With regards to your suggestion/observation that signal wires need to be attached to both tuners, I will need to seek advise from someone. It is quite possible that the tuner letters are being mixed up. As we know that the Zgemma has no such issue, please configure only one tuner. Test both cables, one at a time and confirm the signal issue has been resolved on both cables. We can then proceed to reconnecting the newer receiver.

Attached is a picture with the tuner letters marked for the AB-Pulse 4K

Thanks everyone so far for suggestions & help
cables connected to both A & B in pic
Re-housed both connecters at receiver - No braid touching the center/copper (No change to signal)
Next step I think is to get up to the dish to check and re-house Connector for the cable going in to Tuner B. Might have to wait for this storm that's coming to blow over first

OK, all working now.
I finally got up to the dish yesterday and cut off an inch of each cable & put 2 new connectors on and now both tuners are pulling in 662 channels each, when i do a manual scan.
I can record a channel and watch any other channel with no issue.
Also no issue when disconnecting a cable, other tuner still works.

Cable/connector for tuner B looked very worn at the dish, so as per earlier input, this must have been the main issue here. (Although, before I changed anything at the dish, I had plugged back in the Zgemma and this was working as it should & showing none of the above issues), but all good now on the AB Pulse

So again, thanks to everyone for their help and support, much appreciated
