I'm not one of the Tecchy people that you mention, but here is my prediction. all HD to go within the next two months. SD to stay for another 12. Then and only then will the scene re-open, but only on the small scale as it started out with (hobbyists and their friends) and no more large scale sharing.

This is based on nothing but a gut feeling!

Sky Italia apparently hit the SD channels within the last few weeks, but they were outflanked by the sharers, and it is back on. (Again, that is what I read somewhere, don't know about the authenticity of it).

You make a great point and I think your gut feeling will be spot on.

You saying the scene will re-open when the SD channels will go, but do you think people like me and others who dont know such techy people will be able to get hold of a fix somehow?

On the point of these channels moving, is there an automatic or manual way to stop them being included in the auto bouquets maker? Or for the select few to be replaced with sd rather than selecting all sd as provider? I know it's easy done on a skybox but what about all those with ABM?

I get to see the games I want to see in the highest quality - pay a premium for the privilege.... I have a season ticket to go to the games :-)

For the rest, SD will do!

Off topic, I know, but who is your team??

Please lads and lassies, read the first post before posting that x, y, or z channel is gone. the first post has a list of all channels that are gone. If Satman doesn't get to it first, I will edit his post to add the new channels. If, however, you come across a new one not on the list, feel free to post about it, and again, Satman, or myself will edit the first post accordingly.
Cheers Guys.

Cheers for the feedback everyone.
Is anyone aware of a potential fix? Is anything being worked on?
Also (stupid question alert) does this affect all HD channels I.e FTA? BBC, ITV etc.

Just my observations from reading on here. I honestly can't foresee any fix to the loss of the hd channels. From what I read on this forum it's most likely hd is gone for good. The main concern now is whether sd will follow suit.

I don't think it should affect the fta channels as they are available without internet access. If all S*y hd/sd went down the boxes would still be fta satellite receivers anyway.

My supplier is saying there will be good things within the next week, he has no reason to lie to me as he knows I'm Ok with just the SD channels, just have to wait and see.

One thing that's always intrigued me is this.
Just how many people are in on the use of servers? I wonder too how many of those would pay for the real version? I'm curious about the economic side of all this and how it actually affects Sky.

I would have no idea how many people use servers but I'm thinking it's a huge number. Again, just an observation on my part.

I for one would NOT sign up to S*y if I lost what I can currently receive. I regard what I receive from my server as a very cheap bonus to what I can receive fta. If it goes, it goes, I'd miss it, but not that much to pay S*y a small fortune.

Im with Robbie. I'm not paying anything more than £20 a month to watch a footy game once a week and skysportsnews regularly. To pay for that would cost a lot (skysports package and BT sports).

the only channels that will go are encrypted ones ,your freesat channels will still work, google will give all those channels 200 or so.

But do we think it's 1000, 5000, 10,000, 25,000 50,000, 100,000, 250,000.... more?

Blimey. Big numbers then.
The thing is though, only a small proportion of those people would actually legitimately subscribe so it's not as if Sky is losing 250,000 possible sales.
In a way I'm surprised the numbers are that high as it's a bit techy to get the system up and running and most people will never have the know how or ability to make it work for them.

But people set up and sell plug and play ready on ebay facebook gumtree etc. Ud be surprised at how many are out in ur area when u check. Anyway. We're going way off topic again. (Sorry delete posts)

Has anyone noticed the reduced quality of some HD channels?
I have an F5s box and noticed yesterday dark images turn into lines if they move quickly even on Disney HD (kids not me)
Watching 4HD now and that's the same
Clear when images are still but lines on moving images
Could it be down to what sly are doing?
Newbie here so sorry if posted in wrong place
