Like so many others I'm following this thread with great interest. As I've said before, I'd presently be more concerned with the possible later loss of standard def broadcasts. I'm more than happy to have sd rather than losing out altogether.

Question is, with all this talk of the demise of hd, would people seriously consider dropping access to a server because hd is going, or are the majority in the same boat as myself (ie. sad to be losing hd but content to be keeping sd)?

I'd be afraid to see my reliable server pull out because peeps weren't interested in having sd only.

I'm definitely with you on that score, SD would certainly be fine for me and still worth the server payment..

Personally I'd rather pay and have HD. Reason I got a nice big TV is to watch as much as possible in HD. So I'd rather have some sort of pay service and have access to HD broadcasts.
 
Absolutely. As I've been saying, of course we'd all prefer hd, but if we're losing hd then having sd is better than nowt. There is of course one other way to get all the hd we would love to have BUT that means an official S*y sub and that's just too expensive in my book.
 
I know a lad who has sly & a multiroom box and he shares the extra box and the cost 50/50 with someone else. Seems like good way of cutting costs of official Sly by 50%

When sly finds out , you get a big bill for doing that beware they have the tech to find out that , I no quite a few who went down that route then got billed for having two box's at different address

I think thats why when you have multi room the box has to be connected to a phone line 24/7 otherwise you get billed twice.

Dont do it myself but I no people have had some big bills after doing it ,

pay Murdoch his extorniate rates if you still want ya HD.or branson's verminmedia, were all here for the same reason so we don't have to pay there prices HD was just a bonus.
I pay a tenner for a year. hd or not that's a no brainer to me

quite a few doing it for this price now bees.think they better get there pennies b4 it properly goes tits up and we loose all channels ..!!

A lot of the HD channels are going. I have noticed ESPN, BT SPort 1&2, Living, CI, HIstory. SD all fine and most of the other HD channels for now.
Can you get movies etc in SD rather than HD??
 
Nothing wrong with the sports channels you mention, for an explanation for the others, read from the first post mate.
 
Think sky might be getting rid of there old box's a bit quicker than people think , as I no for a fact that free upgrades on there new box's are flying , how I no well let's say 500 a day are getting delivered to new customers from one depot i no very well
