Desktop hdmi card query

If i found a card with hdmi port and motherboard has a vacant slot might it work ok or need drivers as thinking ahead if monitor gets replaced and want a hdmi ports.

Your card will come with drivers.
If you talking 2nd hand, then I'd think drivers be on card makers website.
