External harddrive format for zgemma star h.2s

I want to record onto a western digital 1tb external hard drive, do I format the hard drive to Fat32 or exFat, or will any of those formats do?

It will record to Fat32 or NTFS, not sure about exFat. If you intend to save timeshift to the drive it will need to be initialised to the Linux ext filesystem.

Can I use a SD card for the swap file and time shift and then use a hard drive to record so that i can remover it and watch on my PC too?

Yes, just make sure the sd is ext4 format and the hdd is ntfs. (fat32 has a 4gb filesize limit so hd recordings might be too big).
