Freezing during EPL on BT smart Hub 2

He has 500mb pup, this should not be an issue
 
VPN can vary so try different servers. I'm not sure why openvpn was recommended as wireguard is supposed to be faster with less speed loss


Also check the ping

Unless the Mrs is downloading UHD porn while you're neglecting her to mess around with your firestick that speed should be sufficient.

Agreed if it is consistent. If it is moving up and down can cause a issue.

Could be a couple of things. The firesticks don't have a great processor. And some VPNs will kill processors.

Maybe good idea to try surfshark. That seems ok on firesticks. £5 in the for sale section.
 
Try turning ipv6 off in your router settings you say your mate has the same service and with vm and no issues then could be your setup.
Have you tried disabling the vpn to see if any change if improves or worse also try hot spotting from your phone.
 
I have found some sort of workaround

I have found that if l use ip vanish protocol - openvpn using TCP - that seems to be much better

Only glitched once today on HD.

I will see what happens during the chelski match

But l was thinking of using Surf shark as a backup

I was trying to watch the Forest game tonight and had constant buffering during the game

I checked with my mate - who has the same service and he’s with Vermin and said there were no issues at all

Contacted the supplier to get more help

Suggested to change the VPN Protocol in ip vanish from Wireguard to OpenVPN

I changed this but after a few mins - the footy started buffering again

Restarted the firestick
Updated the IP vanish App as there was an update available
Restated the router

Yet again the problem is still there - freezing and buffering every 20-30s during Forest game

Phoned my mate who also has the same service but is on vermin - said he has no issues but another mate - whose got BT smart hub 2 is also seeing freezing on TNT sports 1 - as the boxing was on

I have disabled Bt Web Protect last week. There isn’t an option to disable Smart Setup which is mentioned on these forums

Are there any other settings in the BT that l can try to resolve the problem

It can’t be the provider as it’s working fine on Vermin using a 4K max firestick

Maybe BT are blocking streams during the games however l can’t pinpoint in the settings what l can disable as l have already disabled BT Web Protect

In the router - there isn’t any options to disable Smart Setup - but according to other forums this option is now disabled

Any other ideas would be appreciated

Unsure is suggested previously, but download background apps and process list, run this every few days and it will surprise you how many apps still run in background even after you exit them, force close and clear cache on each one regulary, reboot router and then try again.......

Definitely try another VPN, as a backup .

Express VPN is supposed to good, but not tried it myself.

but l will switch to wireguard for second half - as that’s the default and wireguard response time is supposed to be faster

Did you try the switch to wireguard? Did it make any difference??
