To be totally honest about it, The likes of the Europa league should be of benefit to the Bhoys, firstly the cash for a prolonged run (casting my mind back to O`Neills great run)- What a time! and i think they can go a long long way.
secondly with the poor state of the opposition in the SPL at least we will have a chance to possibly hone the skills necessary for next years CL and not get caught out in the qualifiers so badly.
I agree with the concept of the Europa being a drain on clubs, but i feel that applies more to the english teams who come up against better or similar opposition every weekend in the Prem.But Celtic will be meeting much more superior teams than they meet regularly in the SPL which can only benefit in the long term.

Mowbray has no fresh fitness worries in Tel Aviv
Celtic manager Tony Mowbray insists his first priority in the opening Europa League clash with Hapoel Tel-Aviv is to win rather than avoiding defeat.
"I don't go into a game ever hoping to get a draw," said Mowbray. "I try to win every game we play, which is how I set my teams up - to be attack-minded.
"If it is a draw and it's a very, very tough game, then I will accept that.
"But if it's a game that we dominate and have many chances and yet draw then I will be disappointed."
The Bloomfield Stadium's capacity of 15,700 is around a quarter of that of Celtic Park but to Mowbray the relative sizes of the clubs will have no bearing on the outcome of Thursday's encounter.
"You've got to be very respectful of the team we're playing," added the former West Brom and Hibernian boss.
"They're here in the Europa League, it's a very, very talented team and we've got be very respectful of that and I don't think our support base or the size of our club matters when it comes to 11 versus 11 on the pitch.
"They play football in a style that I appreciate, they pass the ball around the pitch and have fast, strong attacking players. They play a very expansive game. They've got some good technical players.
"Only when you are put under pressure are your talents and your technical ability are allowed to see how good they are. It will be a different test for them I hope tomorrow night from what they would face week in, week out in their league.
"What is a good result for Celtic? A Celtic victory is a good result for Celtic but I understand it will be a tough game, a hard game for us."
Mowbray watched Bayern Munich's 3-0 victory away to Maccabi Haifa on Wednesday and Mowbray hopes Celtic can inflict a similar result on their Israeli hosts.
"Against Bayern Munich, one of the super powers of European football, for 65 minutes, the Israeli team did pretty well and looked reasonably comfortable and had some good opportunities themselves.
"Yet over the course of the 90 minutes, Bayern Munich's extra quality told.
"From my perspective, I would hope that certain individuals in our team and the extra quality they possess could make the difference but over the course of the game.
"We're fully aware that it's not a two-legged thing so there comes a stage in this game where you're trying to get points and so, like in a league game at home, you go chasing football matches to either get a point or to get three points."
The Europa League will feature an extra official behind each goal in an attempt to bring further clarification to dubious incidents but Mowbray hopes their presence will go unnoticed.
"I'm hoping that nobody sees them," Mowbray said.
"We all in the game what right decisions really. Bottom line, whether it works for you or against you, you hope that correct decisions are made on the football field.
"Let's hope we're not having five penalties in every game because players are holding on to each other.
"It will be interesting to see how those officials behind the goal look at that. I would think that they're going to be no closer to the action than the referee's going to be.
"You send defenders out to do the job and concentrate and do their jobs properly. You never tell them to go out and hold players at set plays.
"I would like to think that the referee will make the decisions, not the guy stood behind the goal."
