Guide How to set up an E2 combo box with vix image

Almost forgot - do I need to format the HDD prior to plugging into the receiver's USB port, if yes, to which type?

Does the box require an Ethernet cable to be plugged in to access the internet or does the cable coming from my router via a splitter act as my link to the internet?

ye.s box has to format your new usb hdd externally powered as in the tuts.box does need lan cable connection as like pc,coaxial is only for signal for tv channels

Does anyone know much about the Vu+ Solo SE V2?

I have read that although it is classed as a twin cable tuner you only need one feed as the module inside contains a splitter.

I am now a little confused as to how this might effect the installation of the tuners (tuner 'a' and tuner 'b' for example) upon setup - do I install both as standard or just the one and will still have recording capabilities?

Also if I do install both does that mean I would then have 3 tuners as such and could therefore record 2 channels and watch one?

Thank you in advance!

Please help my line just wont activate I can see my MGcamd.1.35a in softcam setup and have put a line in etc/keys aka usr/keys along with mg_cfg, but my line just wont activate. I am using Vix. int softcam manager log I get 3 events.
1. Timer Check Enabled
1. Couldnt find MGcamd.1.35a running, starting MGcamd.1.35a
3. Starting MGcamd.1.35a
Can someone please help me

I have the VU+ Solo SE V2 with twin cable tuners....
From what I recall, I selected tuner "a" to setup, and tuner "b" was setup automatically, at the same time.
When your tuners have been setup you only have two tuners ( unless you have purchased an additional usb tuner as an optional extra )
You will be able to record two different chanels at the same time, and you have the ability to watch a previous recording you have made on the hdd OR you can watch one of the recordngs once started.

Thanks very much for your response. I seem to have everything set up correctly now however I was wondering if there is a VOD plugin I could install for the basic terrestrial channels, for example could I simply dl BBC Iplayer?

Also is it safe to install KODI or would it conflict with an existing sub?

Apologies if these are silly questions!

Cheers

Ok downloaded and installed mgcamd_138, but my line still wont activate, I read somewhere that someone had a dodgy router that was preventing their line from activating is this possible?

unsure as if box has internet its connected, you not giving us all the info,2 files sent with filezilla to usr/keys? did you send anything to etc ?
on the remote on softcam manager how many cams are showing in there and ticked?
delete any that are not mgcam 1.38.set up cam to autostart think its blue button.

Hello All

Need some urgent advice please!

Apologies if this is the incorrect place on the forum however I have searched and I can't seem to find the new thread location.

Does your internet connection have any effect on the channels you are trying to view on your sub?

The reason I ask is because I noticed earlier today when my broadband went down I also lost connection to all of my channels on my existing test line - although I could still view terrestrial.

I was under the impression that a coaxial cable carries both TV and internet connection and the Ethernet cable was to update EPG etc. For example I have read posts where users have cancelled all of their existing subscriptions with VM yet are still able to view channels through their line.

My current connection is a splitter from the main box, one cable to router and one cable to receiver, with an Ethernet cable connecting the router and the receiver. I also currently still have an active internet/phone line/package with VM which is reliant on the experience of the test line.

I did not realise that the ability to view channels on your sub was reliant on a constantly active internet connection from your router; could somebody please confirm if this is the case or if it was a coincidence that I happened to lose both my internet and channels simultaneously?

Thank you in advance.

yes if you lose your broadband you can only watch the fta programs as no cams are needed.

and your phone wont work:smoke rings:

Thanks, I am just confused as to how people with no active cable subscriptions can access cams - no broadband/TV/phone - only a cable.

I was hoping to keep my broadband only however if the viewing of my line is reliant on my internet connection alone I might have to reconsider as it is not the most stable at times unfortunately.

everything comes through 1 cable into house, split by splitter as you have done,if you had a vm box you would be paying for tv service, but the bb by itself is used + a sub provider who opens your channels when you pay a sub,so coaxial for tv signal and internet to open package.
