Hip operation aftercare

Just had an xray and hip is shot and needs an urgent replacement and on a list for now.

No idea of whats 2 come 2 to 3 days in hospital then out and will need aftercare for 2 weeks i assume to build my strength back again .
Mobility is bad so thinking they wont let me home as living alone and needing physio to build up my strength to even get up the stairs again to bed.
No idea on where i might need to go after the hospital when released.

Anybody had one done and what are the challenges to be conquered.
The first thing you will notice is that horrible aching pain will have gone.good luck

Had to go into A AND E with leg issues and doctor said i had a bloody ulcer on side of leg with cellutis and not slept for 3 nights as pain kept me awake.

Going back in early tomorrow for hopefully a drip and meds prescription.

Found this at home to use as hopefully might help my issues.

A good piece of advice for you.
Don't watch the youtube video until after your operation. 🤣 🤣 🤣
It's about 20 mins long and shows you exactly what they do.

First thing you need to find out if it is "cemented" or "uncemented"
1st one is quick recovery and you will probably be sore but up and about on day 2.

2nd one is a lot longer recovery think I was off work for over 3 months might be closer to 4. They let the bone
grow into stem before you can even think about physio (starts about week 8 - 10).

Recovery isn't that bad, make sure you keep your leg elevated when sitting down watching judge judy👍👍

Hard to elevate legs sitting on a chair but ongoing issue with left leg and ulcer can drive me mad. Orho pedetic chair has strong arms to get me up out of it after a few goes.

I bought these to get a better height on the chair. easier to get up.
Get something to elevate your leg while sitting. They forgot to tell me that when I was discharged. Two days later my leg and foot ballooned up
Went down naturally when I kept it elevated..
