I use a program called mediabox editor studio.

You will need to change the extension from .dbs to .abs for the program to recognise it & open it using Import Ali Gen NoCAS.

The default is 0000.

If that doesn't work, then the master password is 3327.

Before I venture into updating my 1st channel list ( full list i.e aj etc ) I have a few questions, I have just read through all 18 pages of this thread and it has prompted me to ask some questions before updating :


1. I bought my box all set up plug n play basically, if I updated the channel list as per Bees info and using AJs list would all channels be as they are now in favourites order ( so kids channels are together , sports channels are together etc or would it just be 1 long list in sat list )

2. I recently backed up files from my skybox to my usb stick, should I remove all files from usb ( and put on my computer ) before putting aj`s list on the usb ?

3. Should I back up old channels list ( the original one which has came with box, if so what do I back and do I do it as misc file )

4. I have read people doing full re-scans and blind scans after upgrading channel list, is this necessary even if channel list updates correctly ?

When people come in and see your post, and unfortunately, not one second beforehand, as said before, this learning curve will not be done on your terms, it will be based on when someone is in and sees and answers your question.


1. if you used AJ's list previously, and you update it - YES, If you use two diff lists(AJ and Sattv5) maybe slightly different.
2. Would do no harm to have a seperate backup.
3. You say you have already backed up all files, why do it again.(no need either way)
4. No.

Gosh Wheelo you are a tough un, it had been about 30hours since I asked the question, so thought perhaps it was getting forgot about, so posted again for some answers, sorry my bad :-(

1. Like I said in the post it came with the box so I didn't previously use AJ or Sattv5 - I have no idea what was used to do it - So can I still use AJ`S for channel updating or could this cause problems in update ?

3. I recently backed up my CCcam.cfg and FxS, What I mean is - Should they be removed from USB and put onto my computer before channel updating ?

sly are a PAIN moving channel numbers around today... took me like an hour to edit my list to the new numbers :( gave up with the international channels ..not like i watch them anyways

Story I was also replying to Den as he needed channel list ;-)
But if you cant find a zipper thats any good diwnload channel list straight from AJ website as above search n google ;-) it is not a zipped format straight from website therefore can be put straight to USB with no unzipping.

Are you sure that your version of Windows doesn't already have a built-in unzipping program? I know that Windows 7 professional does.

If not, then you don't have to use Winrar (you can download it from the PC section in the downloads btw), there are a few free unzipping programs to choose from.

I use a program called IZArc. I installed it many years ago on my pc:-

Download - IZArc - Free Zip Files Utility

Like a lot of free software, it may try to get you to install other stuff on your pc. Read every screen carefully!
