They find a lot by watching for spikes to DNS/IPs just before big events so even without a leak it can happen.

And ISP throttling would need a VPN and that’s becoming more common place now

@bangloud Are you using a vpn because you need to ? (Its blocked/throttled without one) or because you want the anonymity. you haven't actually said.

Some servers may not need vpn but for privacy no harm in using one.

Also depending on vpn provider you use can set in settings to connect to fastest server so allow minimal speed loss.

but if they work at his house then not the provider, but suppose no harm in trying

It’s not a case of been a good provider it’s called having their shite in order but what you don’t realise a block can happen at any given time.
So this good providers don’t need vpn is bollox only takes a leaked line simple👍👍👍

You're right a block could happen at any time but for normal day to day usage a VPN is not required on a good server, you're adding 'hops' between you and the server for no reason, unless you use it normally for privacy.
