Pleased you got things sorted, although sounds like you had a bit of a nightmare, good shout from the guys here to purchase a Hybrid. Enjoy your viewing.Update for my thread.
I ordered hybrid lnb 6 outputs as that was all that was in stock for Thursday delivery from Amazon.
I waited in all day and it said at 2pm it was out for delivery so when it got to 9:30pm i thought it was not coming.
At 10:38pm the door bell goes and a person was seen walking very fast away from my door. The parcel was not on my doorstep but he had left on the floor around the side of the house.
At 7:40am Sky person calls my mobile and says he will be there at 8am(no call before from Sky person) and he was there on time.
He gets out of his van and we have chat and i mention Hybrid lnb and he shakes his head and says not on his job sheet/device so cant fit one. I tell him i have one and will he fit it and he agrees. He them says have i been told that he can not enter my home due to COVID and i say no i was not told from Sky but i found out another way.
He swaps out dish and lnb and i opened a downstairs window in the lounge and he connected the twin cables and then set up the box.
He spent half an hour trying to get the Samsung tv audio to work but it would not so he said maybe the hdmi inputs are not working. We tried a small tv and that worked so i said leave it as it is and i will se if i can get it to work later or call Richer Sounds as still under 6 year warranty. I set up the mini box and then he left.
As i was putting all the tv, sky box and other devices back to where they are going to stay i turned off the power to them so i could neatly arrange the cables.
When i switched them all back on and waited a few mins the sound was working on the sky box to the Samsung tv through hdmi lead.
I know the saying "turn it off and on" so maybe that worked.
Thank you all for your help and input for my questions.
Have Sky altogether stopped doing hybrid lnbs or do you just need to warn them in advance? Been having a few issues with my dish so need to get the engineer to check it out, but don't want them to replace my hybrid with a wideband only lnb.
Agreed they came to mine told them I have freesat, boxes in 3 of bedrooms and left all cabling attached and put q in downstairs and mini in my bedroom and still got 2 spare ports to add another box if needed luckily engineer had hybrid so sent mine back. It's is not clear from your post what is wrong with your set up.
Do you have Sky Q already ?
Did Sky fit the hybrid lnb when you had Sky Q installed?
If the Sky person looks at the dish/lnb and there is a fault with the lnb they will replace it if it is under warranty from Sky(i think it's only a few months though) but if you supplied it i am not sure what will happen.
If you read my thread you will see that i bought a hybrid lnb just incase the Sky person did not have one and it turned out it was a good move as he did not have a hybrid and would only fit a normal Sky lnb if i did not have one.
You could always buy a new hybrid lnb and if the Sky person will not fit one then he/she can use the one you bought. I have spoken to a 4 or 5 people that have had Sky Q installed this year and none of them have had a hybrid lnb installed as the fitter did not carry any and they had to supply them them selves to be fitted.
If you tell people what issues you are having on techkings then you will get some good advice and you may have the issues sorted and then you could cancel the Sky fitter but you maybe better starting a new thread.
I piggybacked off your thread as I thought it would then be easier for anyone having the same question in the future, so they'd only have to search in one thread rather than multipleIt's is not clear from your post what is wrong with your set up.

Tell them you got freesat boxes also so bring one when coming if it needs to be changed.
I still need to book my visit yet, they want extra for a weekend visit. So will try and get them down when I have a day off.Sounds like Sky may have changed their policy recently. I had Sky Q fitted about 18 months ago, told the engineer when he arrived that I had a "Freesat" (Zgemma) box in another room and he happily fitted a hybrid LNB without question.
Maybe they no longer carry them on their vans as standard and they need to be requested in advance?
As a side note, did he leave you with your old LNB too? if so, gaffa tape it to the right side of your new one (as you look at the front of the dish) and add a diseqc switch, it'll give you 19.2e channels too!
Works perfectly on mine, gives about 50-60% signal!
Yeah, I probably will if they ain’t budging. Can't you just tell them to install another dish if they don't want to give an hybrid lnb?
I don’t understand your question? As I said, taping a second lnb to the side will give you channels off Astra 19.2. A diseqc switch will allow the box to switch between the two feeds.cant see taping another lnb to your arm will give you 2 feeds at once?
I mean to get 19.2e, I’ll have a go at taping a second lnbSo you are only viewing in one room and not 2 rooms.
