Channel 4 has won the rights to broadcast the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, after agreeing a historic deal with CAF.
This deal marks the first time the tournament will be available to watch for free in the UK, which kicks off on December 21 in Morocco.
24 teams will play in 52 matches across nine stadiums, with every moment broadcast live across Channel 4’s network, airing on Channel 4, E4, 4Seven, Streaming and Channel 4 Sport YouTube.
The AFCON 2025 will feature a host of Premier League stars, including Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah and Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush representing Egypt, the tournament’s most decorated side. Egypt take on Zimbabwe on Monday 22nd December at 5pm and South Africa on Friday 26th December at 3pm.
Other Premier League names expected to take part in the tournament include Bryan Mbeumo for Cameroon, Amad Diallo for the holders Côte d’Ivoire, Everton’s Senegalese duo Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye, Fulham’s Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, both playing for Nigeria, West Ham’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka for DR Congo, and Crystal Palace and Senegal’s Ismaila Sarr.
The news comes after Sky Sports secured the rights alongside a minor deal with the BBC for the last tournament, which put the majority of matches behind a paywall. This means more eyeballs than ever will be watching Africa’s greatest tournament this time around.
Coverage of the 2025 AFCON begins on December 21.
