Chelsea recorded a pre-tax loss of £355m for 2024-25, according to financial figures released by Uefa.

It is the highest annual loss ever made by an English football club, and the second highest in European history, following the £484m Barcelona's lost in 2021.

Brentford head coach Keith Andrews has signed a new contract with the club, running until 2032

Galatasaray fans have been banned from the club's Champions League visit to Liverpool later this month following crowd disturbances during their game with Juventus in the previous round.

Spurs have won 2 of their last 19 games and have amassed just 4pts so far in 2026. I think tonight’s game is their season. Win and they should be OK, lose and it would be hilarious as a neutral to see one of the so called “ big 6 “ go down.

EFL clubs have voted in favour of expanding the Championship play-offs from four to six teams.

The new system is similar to the format used in the National League and will be introduced for the 2026-27 season.

It means teams finishing from third to eighth will compete for promotion to the Premier League.

Clubs finishing third and fourth will progress directly to the semi-final, while a one-legged quarter final will be played with fifth at home to eighth and sixth hosting seventh.

Semi-finals will remain as two legs and the final will still take place at Wembley at the end of May.

There are currently no plans in place to expand the play-offs in League One or League Two.

Chelsea have been handed a Premier League record fine of £10.75m and a suspended transfer ban.

It was a result of the club making secret payments to unregistered agents and third-parties over transfers between 2011 and 2018. But it could have been a lot worse. Only a frank admission of guilt and full co-operation avoided a larger fine - and a potential points penalty.

The Premier League published a 28-page document highlighting all the wrongdoings - how much money was paid out, by who, and for which transfer deals.

Chelsea made 36 separate payments totalling £47.5m to 12 individuals or corporate entities. They were made via a series of third-parties, which were primarily registered in the British Virgin Islands. The payments either completed the signings of players and/or acquired transfer options without the payments appearing on the club's accounts. It was found that they were "obvious and deliberate breaches" which also "involved deception and concealment in relation to financial matters".

Former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was implicated. The payments happened "with the knowledge and approval of certain senior former officers and/or Directors" and using funds "controlled by or associated with the former owner".

Newcastle United sold both their St James’ Park home and adjacent land to another company owned by the club’s shareholders last season, enabling them to book their first profit since coming under the majority ownership of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) in October 2021.

The intragroup asset sales generated paper proceeds of £176.2million ($232.3m) and an accounting profit of £133.1m, resulting in a pre-tax profit of £34.7m for Newcastle in 2024-25. Without the sales, the club would have posted a record £98.4m loss?

Therefore, the club no longer officially owns its home; it is now under the control of a business controlled by the club’s owners.
