After nine years and more than 450 appearances, Bernardo Silva will bring his glittering Manchester City career to a close at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old, who joined City from AS Monaco for what now looks a modest £43m in 2017, confirmed on Thursday that he will leave the club when his current contract expires this summer.

During his time at the Etihad, Silva has won 19 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and the club's first Champions League trophy.

He could still add to that tally before his departure at the end of May, with Pep Guardiola's side still chasing both Premier League and FA Cup success.

Stuart Attwell, the Premier League referee, is being deliberately kept off Nottingham Forest matches due to his controversial history with the club.

It is two years to the day since Attwell was involved in a Forest game — a 2-0 defeat against Everton that led to the club posting an infamous tweet condemning his decision-making as the video assistant referee (VAR) and noting he was a fan of Luton Town, one of their relegation rivals at the time.

There are no indications when the PGMOL will reintroduce Attwell to Forest matches in any capacity.

As well as not refereeing games, Attwell has been left off VAR and fourth-official duties for all the Forest matches in the relevant two-year period.

John Stones will leave Manchester City upon the expiration of his contract this summer, with an announcement expected to be communicated next week.

The mutual decision will bring an end to the 31-year-old’s close to a decade-long stay at the club, where he has won 16 trophies including six league titles and the 2023 Champions League.

West Bromwich Albion have been docked two points for breaching the English Football League’s (EFL) profitability and sustainability rules (PSR).

The sanction sees them drop from 18th to 20th in the Championship, six points clear of relegation, with two games to play.

Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni has been given a six-game ban by Uefa for homophobic conduct during their Champions League knockout play-off match with Real Madrid in February.

The match at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon was halted for 10 minutes after Real's Vinicius Jr accused Prestianni of racially abusing him.

It has been confirmed by the Football Association that the FA Cup final will kick off at 3pm on Saturday 16 May at Wembley

Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada is facing severe punishment for punching an opponent in a heated derby match with Huesca in Spain's second division - after he had already been sent off.

The Argentine received a second yellow card for pushing over a Huesca player in stoppage time at the end of a fiery relegation battle.

He then sprinted towards Huesca captain Jorge Pulido and punched him in the face.

That led to a mass brawl, resulting in Huesca keeper Dani Jimenez and Zaragoza's Dani Tasende also being dismissed.

The 32-year-old has ended her career as the Women’s Super League side’s longest-serving player, having made 314 appearances since joining in 2015 from Doncaster Belles

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against a four‑year drugs ban imposed by the Football Association.

Mudryk, who joined Chelsea for an initial 70m euros (£61m) in January 2023, has not played a competitive match since November 2024.
 
Former England international Ashley Young has announced he is retiring from playing at the age of 40.

He ends his career at Ipswich Town after winning 39 caps for the national team, scoring seven goals.
 
Sheffield Wednesday have announced that US consortium Arise Capital Partners has bought the club, officially bringing to an end Dejphon Chansiri's ownership.

The EFL confirmed the news on Saturday, and said it would not impose a 15-point deduction on the club following its exit from administration as this has been "an incredibly challenging and complex situation for all parties".

As part of the agreement, Wednesday will remain under budget restrictions for the next two seasons as part of the "conditions of continuing membership in the EFL" but they will still be permitted to sign new players.
 
Sir Alex Ferguson was taken to hospital after falling unwell at Old Trafford shortly before Manchester United's match against Liverpool.

Sources stressed it was a precautionary move and not an emergency situation as Ferguson was taken from the stadium in an ambulance.

Club officials are optimistic Ferguson will soon be fit enough to return home.

Eddie Howe is set to remain Newcastle United head coach beyond the current season.
