Apologies if I have posted in the wrong section, please feel free to move to correct section/thread.

Longtime lurker here, hoping someone can help with a problem that’s just started to happen on our Zgemma h2s box.
It has a “Sly skin”, I think.

Got the box from sat tech uk in 2016 who gave great support at the time but now I’m on my own I’m not sure what, if anything I can do as a complete technophobe.
Been using it as a free sat box since 2017.

Just recently when I have set it to record from epg or from timer it will record certain programmes fully, but only record others (well black screen) for 10 seconds.

No settings have been changed , the external hard drive is showing 89%free disk space.

I’m at a loss as to what it is.

Did get a new tv, LG smart tv in November, but everything was fine up until a couple of weeks ago.

Or as the h2s is now a bit old and will get more problematic over time would I be better to update box to a better model eg Zgemma h7s ?

Prefer to sort it out as bit skint after Xmas and buying tv.

Any help gratefully received, but as I say I’m not savvy with computers , smart stuff & this box etc so if possible tell me in lay man’s terms, as in “idiots guide” lingo.

Are you recording another program at the same time?

Do the channels actually clear, ie the other day on my box I noticed I had no bbc or ITV channels, if I tried going to channel 101 (bbc) it would default to channel 4. I changed the provider in Autobouquets maker from Sky -> free tv to Freesat and ran a scan and the missing channels re appeared.
 
Thanks, our set up slightly different finally found it in service searching. Have done what grog68 suggested. Hopefully when it updates tomorrow morning it will have sorted it.

in the Autobouquets Maker menu page you can run a scan manually so you don't have to wait until the morning

1.3 ipab ? defo a reflash and set hdd up correctly
menu,setup,system,usb
initialise
wait til dun
menu,info panel,plugins
create swap on 256
wen dun
yellow 4 auto start
red to make active
exit into mount ,green
save on media/hdd
wen box cums bk on check menu ,setup epg
location should b media/hdd

I don’t think I’m up for doing this but my lads around tomorrow I’ll let him do it.
I will let you know how it goes.

Just to ask how often do these boxes need to be reflashed?

shunt if its setup right but being on ipab when its been dead 4+ years is your issue aswel lol + h2s is a old box now id look at upgrading
