Suggestions for old sky lnb

I've decided to change our my sky lnb out this morning to a labgear quad. I get up to the dish and remove the old lnb to find out they are incompatible. I need to find a mark 2 lnb and holder that fits inside the dish not external. The lnb collar side is also 35mm not 40mm like the new one or I would have just swapped the brackets. I guess a sky engineer changed it years ago as the lnb was just taped in place. It must of been up there 15 years. See pictures to what I need.

It's about £35 for a new mk2 lnb holder and single lnb.

Cheaper to buy a new Zone2 MK4 dish
Unfortunately when i moved into the house years ago i made the sky tech put the dish is what i thought was a smart place. Its a pig to get to just to change the lnb removing the dish might be even harder. If i decide to go down that route i can place it just above head height on the south wall. I've got a mate who owns a sat shop having a look around to see if he has anything lying around.

I think your measuring is slightly out. The current Sky LNBs should fit. They are 38mm. You might be measuring inside the clips that go inside the notches to force correct skew. Please double check with a designated LNB for Sky dishes.

Industry standard LNBs are wider than Sky LNBs, apart from the bullet type.

You've purchased a standard LNB with a holder to fit MK4 SKY dish.

A Mk4 Sky LNB should fit in your bracket.
Well i ended up find a mk2 legacy holder. This converts the dish i have to the lnb that i had bought. I got it from a friend at a local sat shop. Even though i have peaked the lnb on the dish i cannot say i am happy with the signal levels. 82% on bbc one north but 63% on gbnews. Although i did not use my satellite meter i used the enigma 2 webif sat meter and put the lnb to the front and two the back and tried scewing lnb and that is the best i could get. All the pictures are fine i expected a higher signal level. It maybe to lnb is not the best for the bracket, plus on the gigablue the levels seem about 10% down anyway.

Gb news is lower signal than bbc for me, but both are low for you.
Tried flexing thevdish to see if its that?

Yes tried flexing the dish arm up and down, wiggling dish etc it made it worse, might have another play tomorrow. I have a twin smart titanium on my big dish I could swap out for a inverto black ultra and put the twin on the sky dish. We will see.

Using an LNB designed for a round dish on an elliptical dish is always going to be some loss. You may get better results with an LNB designed for a Sky dish dish. That being said, a MK4 zone 1 dish will be better than a MK2 zone 1 dish. It's 9cm wider and has better reception. The wall plate should be the re-usable unlike a zone 2 dish which uses a different fixing mechanism.

What was the signal level on the old lnb (on those 2 channels)?

I think it was about 8% higher but i was getting glitching on gbnews on the odd occasion. I tried the 2nd feed from the dish which has been spare and there was nothing. I'd checked the cables for shorts previously. I might set up a camping dish in the morning and try the old lnb on the middle two unused lnb ports to see if its totally dead.

You are prob better off just getting another sky / zinwell lnb if you don't want to change the dish.

I have no issues with a "normal" lnb on my zone2, but obviously it's a fair bit bigger than a mk2 zone 1 is.
