Which streaming device?

That's not the answer to your question just because a box has more ram and storage dosent make it better
I know you didn’t answer my question and we all know that quality hardware is essential but more RAM and storage improves a device.
I was talking about a branded device that has been proven in North America and is selling well with great feedback form users.
So I am not sure why you mentioned low quality hardware to me as I didn’t mention cheap generic devices in general.

People use amazon sticks and all sorts they do the job you can watch tv.

If you look on paper there are plenty of boxes more powerful than a sheild if you just look at ram and storage but nothing will come close

Come close how?
The bench marks have been beaten more codec support on newer devices now.
So it depends what your needs are because the Shield lacks in areas now for some.

It all comes down to choice.

But the less you pay for a device the lower quality and build quality is not as good it really is that simple.

It is like that with all tech.

If you are paying around £50 to £60 for a device you can't expect the best. But if all you want to do is watch tv its fine.

benchmark figures and should not be used for real world scenarios

Benchmark scores exist for a reason and it gives you an indication on how powerful and efficient the Soc, memory etc actually is.
Whether it’s an android device phone or PC.
The higher the benchmark scores, the more powerful it will be and will generally be more of a premium product.

They should be use as guidance because like you sort of pointed out

A sheild will probably preform better than most android devices for gaming.

However for streaming another device may preform better.

That is why benchmarking can be misleading.

I didn’t mean it’s the only important aspect.
You have to weigh what you are actually going to need from a device and how much you are willing to spend to get what you need.
In general you get what you pay for.

Yes unless devs rewrite apps to work. But Amazon are trying to get away from people who use firesticks for iptv so could just totally block.

Any current amazon device won't be updated with new OS. But dosent mean they won't try to block sideloading
Surely there's always a workaround
Iptv on the firestick is the only reason ppl buy it in my family and friends
Lol

If I was buying a new device would stay away from amazon. There are a good few around £50 to £60 that will do the job
What about the dcolor gd1 and now gd2 devices , the other year gd1 was good alternative for firestick a lot on here bought them.

I know things move on but price wise not to bad.

I don't own one myself but from what I hear and see it's very user friendly for iptv.
Smooth fluid. Catch up tv works responsive etc. Works with normal TV Remote.

They haven’t removed any iptv apps from their App Store yet so users are safe for now.
They removed Kodi age ago but you can still side load it and no one has reported it as being removed by Amazon as of now.

Yh exactly it won't be available to natively download but you can always sideload. Amazon won't be able to stop users side loading iptv apps can they?

Cause they can. Remove downloader from app store and apps like apps to tv etc

But will they bother who knows
