Out of curiosity do they not say max size is 8gb for flashing and was box powered off before inserting into rear?

The only thing with a hdd is the spin up time. I haven't tried an SSD but a 128mb microsd in a usb caddy also works.
It's not about the media, it's about repartitioning and formatting properly.

Might be a silly question, but are you putting the correct file on the usb stick. I must be the zgemma folder and not the zipped ipk file.

Ok Guys did the command and I get this error.I initilised the usb.looks nackered to me.only a new box?

You should be able to network flash from the recovery menu.
Press and hold the power button on the remote when you power the box on.
