Covid-19 the second wave

I think restrictions being lifted now is wrong, not everybody took notice of the first rules/restrictions and now licence is being given to idiots to stretch this ease to the limits! we have had the biggest death rate in Europe! another spike and we are back in the sh**

The decisions that are being made now are purely with the economy in mind! I hope it doesn't end in disaster!

Yeah someone has a massive decision to make to save lives or save the economy and both are just as evil as each other imo.

Sadly no everyone is abiding by the restrictions and its almost inevitable that a 2nd wave of cases will flourish one way or another.

Just wouldnt like to be in boris's shoes right now trying to juggle with decisions to keep the country running but lets hope he does the right thing what ever that maybe is anyones guess at this moment

No doubt we will see spikes and multiple waves.

Questions is will it be a catastrophic. IMO I do and government have sacrificed peoples lives all for the sake of the economy.

Its all well and good restarting the economy but openly saying to people restrictions are more relaxed will mean some will just act everything is somewhat normal.

I will be very surprised if we dont see a full lockdown back in place soon enough.

And just to make things even worse...There's a possibility we will NEVER have a working vaccine, meaning this is permanent.
After 18 years of work we have no vaccine for sars, which Is closely related to C19. We have no vaccine for HIV despite decades of trying.
If we never get a vaccine we will have to change the way we live. This social distancing and lockdown cannot continue, if this goes on for years, and without a vaccine it will, there has to come a point where the crusade is abandoned and the virus will run its course and kill hundreds of thousands every year, it will just become something we have to accept like heart disease and cancer, we can only do so much to prevent and curtail these conditions but we can't avoid them completely. COVID19 might become something similar for a long time if not forever

Definately true with the incompetent twats we've got running the country now, shut everything down and make the greedy banking bastards pay.

Quite frankly it's scary to even think this could be the norm for good especially if we don't get a vaccine that cures this virus.
Like I said, similar viruses that have been around 20 years or more have no vaccine so there's a chance.
It makes me laugh when I hear leaders saying things like 'we'll pledge 250m towards getting a vaccine' and 'we're working around the clock and the budget is without limit' and similar soundbites.
If there's no vaccine it doesn't matter if you spend every penny and very working second trying different things, it's never going to happen

People will be in danger every working day now As with no vaccine and restrictions eased we could see more infections and more deaths.

Some 101 people have now tested positive for the coronavirus after a cluster outbreak at clubs in Seoul’s party district of Itaewon.

Containing this latest surge in cases is a huge challenge for South Korea’s “track, trace and test” measures which have so far proved successful.

Isn't there track and trace app here to distinguish who has had the virus and who you been in contact with?

I remember them Saying something about an app last week.

at my workplace we have tested staff temperatures off all staff before work, and have done for 2 months.

we've recently been able to test staff who are asymptomatic as testing capacity has been upped.

i have tested positive as have a number of my workmates who have also never had so much a sore throat, and whose temperatures - supposedly an early indicator - have been completely stable. across our group only one staff member has needed medical treatment - most positives have had zero or very mild [like a day or two of a sore throat] symptoms

good luck containing something that most of us can carry without any physical indicators or symptoms.

i'm not even sure that the lockdown is worth pursuing anymore. we have so much spare capacity in the health service now. in fact most hospitals are ridiculously overstaffed as we have turned the NHS into a COVID only service.

keep vulnerable people away from the public.

DO NOT visit elderly relatives, especially if they have underlying conditions - i strongly believe a significant proportion of the healthy population are waling around with covid and do not know it.

a few people i know have also been positive, tested negative and have apparently caught the virus again. i initially put most of these down to false positives but its something i am hearing over and over again from people workingin hospitals and frontline health services

let's get the country open again, reduce the power and scope of government back to pre COVID levels, and sort the NHS out somehow.
