So after reading the discussions here I was torn between the shield tv or the formuler z8pro and opted for the nvidia shield tv.
I must say it’s an impressive bit of kit and for me is worth its price tag..I have been fettling with it and setting it up all afternoon and I’m impressed with everything the picture quality is way way better than fire stick 4K I have been using up to now.very fast navigation nicely set up and laid out..
Super customisable there’s a setting for everything I have even managed to link it to Alexa so I can voice control shield tv with basic commands.
There’s hundreds of IPTV apps available to install plus all the other google play stuff..I installed the downloader app same as I had for fire stick so installing anything you want is easy..
I’ve put my sub on it and it’s so much better picture than fire stick..I found the picture quite dark using fs but with shield it’s alive...
I’m no expert but I’m glad I chose the shield tv and the main reason was it’s well supported with updates plus it’s got the proper google android tv on it etc so I should be okay for a while...very happy with it.

Can ask what TV this is on. Just want to be sure the upscaling of the Nvidia is better than upscaling on my new TV before purchasing the Nvidia.

Hi using on Samsung Q90R..there’s a definite quality difference from using my fire 4K..it’s seems cleaner and brighter if that makes sense..I think the processing power etc has a lot to do with it..
My tv has AI upscaling as well but it’s just much better via shield..
 
Getting the shield for Xmas as a prezzie of my daughters. Decided to go for this as I like the idea of the AI upscaling from my iptv

@ baz is the upscaling any good with iptv as was unsure if I would see a difference iptv
 
I use an app on mobile phone called easy fire tools! It's on playstore and it works similar to apps to fire but easier!! For all the things you can't get on downloader or store!!

Got mine today. As an analytical person I would say upscale improvement of between 5-8%. This is on a new LG 4k/HDR TV which has its own upscaling. I'm happy with picture improvement and speed of box. Tivimate pro enhances the experience and will ease the transition from Zgemmas.
 
Yes you can install downloader from play store by just searching for it or file explorer and install any apps that way..also use browser to go to apptoid or apk mirror etc..it’s super versatile in the app install department
The more I use it the happier I am I purchased it..I was watching 8k through it yesterday sure tv will only handle 4K but dam it looked good..I like Alexa as well I just ask to turn on shield and it turns on and I’ve it set to change tv source to shield when woken..it’s so dam versatile also..my biggest stand out thing I noticed was the picture quality compared to F.S using the same IPTV etc set up..I always found it a bit dull with fs no matter the tv settings but with shield it’s bright clear crisp and lovely and smooth as butter..
