Probably the app you were using. Did it say AI upscailing unsuported? It works on all channels with tivimate app for me.

I get the occasional unsupported message! But it depends on the source! I don't get the message if the stream is poor! But sometimes will only go to A1 basic if the stream is very good!! The box does need fine tuning prior to use!! But it's cartwheels for me!!

What it will not do is upscale to 4k quality. It will take 720 to 1080 and sd to 720 quality. quite a bit will depend on the initial quality of the providers streams. Most providers claim they stream in full HD but they don't that is where you will notice the difference. In a nutshell if all is set up properly the pic quality should be as good as the the old c/s days.

I never knew that Mike , the shield will upscale 480 to 720 ? is tht IPTV and movies and tv shows ( local content ) ?

Dont have a shield but the upscaling of SD quality to HD seems damn impressive and upscaling generally tbh.

For anyone with slow internet speed that's be a huge plus - only sufficient speed to stream sd yet you watch in hd.

Would you say the FHD streams which claim to be 1080p look better with upscaling or would upscaling not apply here?

It doesn't upscale to 4k ! If the content is really good you won't see too much difference!! But if the stream is crap you notice difference straight away!

Was thinking more on the lines if it was 720p stream as FHD would that be upscaled to 1080p.

But your right if stream is not good upscaling wont do anything really to solve that.

It takes 720 to 1080 fhd is generally 1080

They are mainly 720 in reality so they look like 1080

I don't actually own one yet - planning on purchasing one soon though. Been reading the various threads with interest, seen buzztv and z8 getting rave reviews so held off from buying till I'd seen a bit more.

In a nutshell yes. I watch a good few shows on gold and they pretty much look like 720. If they are true HD it will say no upscailing required.

Z7/8, buzz box and shield seem to most popular boxes here for sure.

But from what mike and others have said the shield definitely seems the best all round box for performance etc.

I've got a z7+, does the job fine but I like the look of the AI upscaling on the shield and the fact it'll run Netflix properly. Had the formuler 2 years so I'm due an upgrade.

To be fair if you watch 3pm kick offs and PPV and USA film channels you are in most cases getting 1080 or pretty dam close.

Yeah tbf the Optus, Spark Sport etc are really good quality pictures. Be nice for others to be dragged up to that standard by the AI too.

Think it would well be worth asking Hiteck to add a new section to cover all these devices like we have on the satellite and cable side.Cable is no longer and satellite is getting smaller so just a thought and should imagine it would be popular and keep everything in one place on each device.

Tbh I think the current IPTV section for these devices are sufficient and would suffice.

But if it helps others find such information etc easy then maybe the boss could look into it if its beneficial.
