Universal LNB

I have a Universal LNB on my dish. So why does it say Universal making me think that it did everything an LNB can perform?

(Now getting a unicable)

Most of us have universal lnbs as standard as would think Unicable are more modern ones to work on modern specialised boxes.

Only problem as it would interfere with all my cable runs from octo/quad/quad/motorised and quad.

Suppose if starting from scratch unicable might be a way to .
@Willo3092 what boxes did you check on please.

I don't know of any E2 boxes that don't work with unicable. You just need to set the tuner config to unicable and assign an scr channel number to each tuner.
Certainly everything I've tried from the Zgemma H2S/H upwards works fine.

Tooooooooo late in the game for me to change.(y)(y)(y)
You can get unicable II LNB that also has legacy ports thats what I bought so it could also feed the sky box and gigablue and zgemma from the unicable connection simmilar to this but mines only has two lecacy ports they don't seem to have that model available now.

As an aside, I'm wanting to replace my LNB on my sat dish, it's on older 'legacy' style where the LNB holder/bracket sits inside the tube arm, would the newer style, as pictured fit?, or would I be best just buying a new adapter bracket and using mt existing LNB, reason for changing is the current on is prone to moving and it's a good few years old now, I'm using an H2H setup and using the signal strength meter on that, (Willobuild), shows about 73% signal.

@acman , I have not long changed from old style LNB my adaptor was also the type that inserts into the arm. The new holder was the same size as the arm and would not slip over it, I ended up heating the new holder with a blowtorch untill I managed to get it to go over the arm then secured it with bolt and self amangamating tape. Depending on the age of your sat dish you may be as well just replacing the whole thing.

Or buy the correct clamp with the insert for your dish

Ebay item 173168220646

There may be cheaper version of it the one above posted as an example.

That is wrong size for newer lnb's its 37mm new ones are 40mm , I already had spare one of those from years back.

Thanks for the replies, urie, looking at the one I posted the bracket does seem more square, where it attaches to the arm as opposed to the more rectangular shape of the legacy arm,
Fez, yes seen those and did think about them, but just wondered as the original LNB was getting on a bit whether a new LNB might yield a little more signal strength.
Seen someone had fashioned one like this.....

Not good pratice best to buy the proper
Adapter or a new traix easy fit satellite dish
Zone 2 The new adaptor slides onto the arm
Then the plastic pin slots into the hole to secure the holder

Yes it looks a like a hack and going to be weak as well,
yes looks like it could snap easily I had searched and could not find one that would fit over the arm on my dish so that was the reason I heated it slowly a bit at a time untill it did fit over the arm it is secure.

Thanks urie, might be worth a try that way as the bracket and LNB would be new, they are not too expensive to buy off ebay as I only need a twin LNB.

I'm about to do the exact same thing, got the unicable lnb not realising that 3mm difference would make so much difference, but have now got similar adapter that goes over the arm on the dish rather than inserts into like existing lnb

I also did get a double lnb bracket, wondering if easier to keep existing lnb in place, add unicable lnb using the double lnb bracket and then just move the dish few degrees so unicable is at 28.2 and existi lnbng is pointing to 19.2.

Either way I think I need to find a sat installer who is willing just to do the switch over as I first thought it would be a simple lnb swap but not to stable on my feet so trying to do this up a ladder will be near imposible. Anyone in the NG area know of an installer?

19.2e is weaker than 28.2e so as you wondered prime focus for the dish would be better aimed at 19.2e.

Finding a sat engineer that gets dual LNB setups these days is hard 28e they all do, anything else motorised or your intended setup scares em.
