If you into spicy food it's not big thing mate.
As the batter has just some spices in it and coated on the fish which gives the red colour.
But get won't be to everyone's tastes.

Fish masla is nice on naan bread with yoghurt mint sauce and onion salad.
Agree its not spicy but if done correctly has some really nice flavouring to it

Not had fish masala on its own not gona lie lol.
Masala fish with nan and salad is delicious as well but I prefer the unhealthy option by having chips lol.
But your right if the right amount of spices are applied it's delicious. But not every chippy can make it right.
One thing that I hate with normal fish and masala fish is some chippys apply such thick batter that you hardly taste the fish. Has to be thin layer imo to have the perfect tasty fish.

Was in London yesterday and spoke to the vet who sorted out the stranded Minke in the Thames.

Wow , this thread kinda get me ,
I've never had even close to decent chips in England.
Even my English missus couldn't believe how much better food was in Ireland, take away or sit in, and chips are NOT meant to be crispy,!!!!
Good Maris Piper, blanched, then deep fried in dripping (oil will do if at home) , perfect,
Blanching is critical to get the starch out.
English people do NOT know how to cook potatoes,
I've never had even close to decent chips in England.

missus sister came up from london last year and we ordered a chippy.
asked her if she wanted battered chips and she nearly gagged.
tried mine when they arrived, now she's a battered chip fan
