Firestick Speed Issue

I have noticed for a while now after doing speed tests on the fire stick on the 5ghz band/frequency I get speeds between 40-50mb and stays like that until I disconnect from the network and reconnect and then speeds shoots up to 200meg then goes back to 40-50mg after a while before doing the same procedure again and speed goes up to the normal 200 meg speeds.

Its happening constantly and cant get my head around why its happening.

Is the network conflicting with the fire stick or something? Is there a solution for this?

Try turning off ipv6 that may fix it. Or connect to 2.4ghz network. Check the usual stuff aswell.

Maybe time to upgrade your firestick if you haven't already.

Changing to 2.4ghz network is not any different. Still slow speeds on that.

Where exactly do you turn of ipv6 and is this the cause of conflicting speeds on the firestick?

It will be in the enthernet settings you can turn it off on your router aswell.

Will have a look see if any difference.

Never had this issue with the speed before on the firestick.

Just last week or so its been happening.

Daughter just got a HD version for £35 yesterday brand-new from Argos she isn't bothered about 4k. I don't think CK has a 4k tv so that's why I suggested the HD version.

If it's just for a bedroom, to watch the odd film or football match, not for main viewing purposes, will the 1st gen not run IPTV?
I've got one somewhere and was going to put a sub on it for my nephew rather than throw it out

But when all stream sources change to hevc265 he would need to upgrade again so may aswell get the 4k stick no brainer imo as the 1st/2nd gen won't handle the new codec

Yes they work there just slow and you need a sub what has the vpn built in because you can not run one on it.Youtube,Netflix etc all work fine
