Absolute beginner setup for zgemma H7S

Right so I am now on 6.3.001 vix.
I now understand a bit more- vix is like the base operating system and then the skin sits on top of this yeah?
So I still have blueHd as my skin even though I’m on 6.3.001

I always stayed with simple 1080 on all my skins on boxes.

If you have a 4K tv i assume your settings will be changed if you are going to change to more content broadcast at 4K from your box.

Indoor aerial may work in depending how close to transmitter you are or outside aerial for your location will be needed.

If on a new image and you found RESTORE on a previous version and also PLUGINS your taking the files stored from that image base.
If you chose NO the wizard guides you through the steps by pressing the OK button.
EPG check where that is getting stored to and NOT INTERNAL FLASH but onto hdd.

Some skins might not be currently up to date and a different one is listed on choices.

You got a lot done already in 1 day , and that is awesome indeed.

Now wondering what else he is going to find here to open up his eyes🤓🤓😇

Yeah to be fair I’m wrecked now!😂
I’ll look for my usb stick tomorrow and try downloading a new skin from the link that was previously posted and I’ll try install that.
The next step then will be to figure out how to get IPTV working on the box also.
After that I may need to look at the LNB/twin coaxial connections I have outside as I’m missing channels when I do my scan.
I brought the box back to the shop last week and they rescanned there and everything was fine so they reckoned it was either the LNB or the wiring.
I tested each coaxial on its own and one is indeed faulty so that’ll have to be looked at- whenever this wind dies down!

There are a number of skins on box and you can choose it from the list there or from plugin feeds and no usb needed.

Some skins dont work great and box has a hissy fit. Note down box ip of 192.168. 0. *** and when internet is working type into your pc browser- Webif

If lnb is 10 years old it might be failing and is the skirt down to protect the cables . They do go green with age as they are usually cut off and new ones inserted.
Yes bad weather is coming for sure

Most skins for Sky type look can be downloaded on the image.

Quad has for connections so the connection you believe is faulty redo the f connector and move it on the LNB.

Until you get familiar and fully set, I would recommend that you use simple 1080 skin. It is already installed in the Vix image. The Blue HD skin was done by Rossi/Simonez and they have been out of the loop for a while. Some Skin.py and Directories changes were made as well as additions which means that some things won't show in the menus.

To change skin (on ViX):
Menu > Setup > User Interface > Skin Selection > Select the skin > OK to restart

Thanks Abu I’ll give that a go. Unfortunately it won’t be until the satellite shop reopens as I need a new LNB! Went to remake that coaxial today and I slightly adjusted the LNB where the face of the LNB promptly shattered!
Ah well at least I still have the saorview service on the internal aerial and the fire stick with IPTV.

Bad move putting 6.3 thats just been released. When you get new lnb, start again with Vix 6.2 and put in another slot and as you only want 28east its easy peasy. The idea is configure box, set up tuners, a b and c, and with vix they ap[ear onscreen. for saorview enable T select ireland then next line you toggle to you region, eg clare maghera, and save. Then exit out. Next you set up auto bouquets and as all the channels are easily available you can skip sky uk and sky roi. The only channel I found missing was CNN. Can be added later. Now run autobouquets and it will put channels in nice layout. Saorview will appear in a group called FTA channels and you can just rename it by pressing menu when on bouquet. And you can move bouquets around again using remote, press menu and select move etc.

Now go back and configure epg and use openepg downloader., set it to 24 hours. Make sure epg is located in hdd or usb, If using an SSD thats ok for epg but if not I would advise use a USB. In epg providers you only need Freesat epg.

For skin have a look at VIXBLUE its already in the box.

OpenTV EPG downloader will serve no purpose for Terrestrial. Best to wait until LNB is replaced before enabling that function.

When using more than one provider in ABM, it is advantageous to add the provider name to bouquets. This is an option in the ABM configure menu. That way, it is discernable as to which bouquets one is selecting.

And you can move bouquets around again using remote, press menu and select move etc.
When I've tried manually moving ABM bouquets around with the remote they become out of order and don't seem to go where I attempt to put them.

I usually have a couple of bouquets already manually FTP'd into the favourites section, including folders with iPlayer and web radio links etc. Not sure if that's affecting things?

I change 'Keep all non-ABM bouquets' to 'No' in ABM config.
Then go into the 'Keep bouquets' section and tick the boxes on my manually created bouquets.
I don't actually create any bouquets with ABM and just use it to keep my custom bouquet up to date.
All the others are IPTV.
