Firestick alternatives

If you can share your experience with the device as it might suit others that are after moving away from FS’s
Update,
I’ve set the stick up using tivimate, it’s ok, I’d say the sound isn’t as good as a firestick also I’d say it doesn’t seem as fast. I’m looking to get a sound bar at some point so maybe this will improve the sound.
Currently back on the fire stick for now until I get it

All I could suggest it try altering the audio settings of the device or try changing the audio decoder options in Tivimate playback settings.

Thanks I’ve had a mess about with the device audio to no luck, I’ve not tried the decoder in tivimate tho, I’ll give it a try 👍

Were a month down the line from when we were told that firestick were going off.........Well..... i don't know off one person who's stick has shutdown.....
Just this week my FS 4K had an exclamation mark next to Cinema HD app won't let me load it fair enough knew it was coming and just tonight's on my iptv app it loads I got EPG but each show or movie whatever I click on I got a copyright warning msg on screen so here I am looking what to get next.. I bought a M11 MAX box but getting no sound on Hisense TV which I've read can be a bit temperamental with Android boxes and can be bit or miss 🤔

** update now my FS is working again wtf

Mate home from Boston for Christmas brought me some of those ONN boxes. They're geo locked so you need to set up initially using a VPN. have one up and running now and it's fine. Its the cheap version $20 only. 4K, 2GB Ram and 8GB storage. Even comes with a HDMI cable. its close to a firestick although remote is a tad awkward compared to the firestick. For the money its hard to beat. Oh and there's no ethernet port. onn.jpg

Ok I've decided on a Tanix tx5 from aliexpress but which one.
There are many sellers offering them and it's hard to spot the genuine ones from Tanix and the fakes.
I have seen on some reviews that some boxes brick themselves shortly after purchase.
Having had previous problems getting refunds from aliexpress for faulty goods I want to get something that works.

Can anyone link to an actual box they have bought and used or a seller they have used who supplies a genuine good quality box that is reliable.

Thanks in advance.

For the price of the tanix tx5 plus with 4gb ram its very expensive. Do you only want non certified box? Why not go for the xiaomi tv box s 3rd gen fully google certified for around £45.

I want a non certified box that will work without having to install a different rom.
Tanix is supposed to be malware free and well supported.

I'm not as technically gifted as most on here but I can just about sideload an app. So I don't want to brick my new box by trying and failing to install a different operating system.

If price isn't an issue then go for the tanix, or if ya wanna save a few quid go for the tox3 box which is made by ugoos. Which is highly unlikely to contain maware.

HOMATICS Box R 4K Plus TV Box AndroidTV 14 has been very good ,only issue is the Dolby Vison logo keeps flashing up in the top right hand corner every so often ,anyone have any idea how to stop this ,Hisense TV
i am planning to buy "HOMATICS Box R 4K Plus" from aliexpress, around £100. How is your exp so far? is the remote snappy and smooth?

Before you make any decision decide on a certified or non certified

Personally I go for certified boxes makes life a lot easier

The risk google change there mind on blocking certain apps I don't think it will happen.

Non certified
The biggest risk is malware and although you can install most apps just a bit more messing around.

You can also flash certain boxes to remove potential malware threats

This box is really good. I've used all of em over the years. I had to make changes to my long term set ups recently after I finally got a sub on a private IPTV service that I've been after for a couple of years. it only runs with a VPN , I have free access to bitdefender vpn app through the family business, but I cant get it on libreelec/kodi or on apple tv box . I don't use any main stream services other than YouTube. Tivimate . Kodi , Plex and a few UK terrestial apps. Always liked the shield but its an 8yr old device now , I dont game so I was looking for a more modern streaming alternative. The apple tv , great box but as I said my bitdefender vpn cant be installed on it.After a recommendation from a pal I bought the homatics box , The quality is evident straight away , even in the design and build. Remote is smooth , buttons are easy to find etc. It plays everything I want perfectly , I paid £125 for this box on ebay (4gb ram).VPN is left on permanently and every app other than Tivimate is allowed access through the vpn using the split tunneling feature. Last week I sold my shield, my apple tv and a mini PC that I had been using as htpc with libreelec . I am just about to order another Homatics R 4k Plus (4gb ram), it has gigabit lan , if you are buying a box , gigabit lan is a must for streaming high bitrate 4k content. Highly recommend it.
