New E2 reciever

Hello guys , I assume I can flash what ever image I fancy , think I've read or may be not that it has 4 Slots so I can try numerous images ? .. is it multi boot ?

Just to help you on your way, if you look at spec on WOS it says multiboot etc. Now I have that AXHD61 and I believe its the same box. I have 4 images. I got it 5 years ago. When you come to do multiboot its best to put Vix on first. It may come with an openatv image.

come back if you want help with multiboot, the power pack is god awful.

I have also brought the AB Pulse 4K box, alongside a 1TB Toshiba SATA 2.5" Internal LAPTOP Hard Drive Disk, I have the LNB replacement for my dish (currently running Sky Q), plan to get it going at the end of the month once Sky has lapsed (the wife has recordings she wants to watch)

I paid an extra £1 for "Enigma 2 Firmware / Image Options (£1.00 charge): OpenViX (Latest)"

This is just to be used for freesat, and later down the line me to mess with things like adding VPN, IPTV etc, but assuming with what I have gone for its relatively easy to get freesat and recording going?

I need to read up on images etc, another world as only ever dabbled with firesticks, assume images is the different TV guide layouts?

Images are kind of like different versions of operating systems, openvix will be fine for you to start off with.

You'll be able to set up freesat on 28.2e with ease. I'd recommend using the plugins auto bouquets maker (this will set your channel list up for you), epg importer and slyk epg (these will automatically populate your guide for you).

Box ain't coming until Monday , do I need to put both Recovery Image and the Full Image on the root of the usb drive ..

Why do you want to do that? Simple is best.

Recovery image - Use when flashing by USB
MMC- Flash when using the remote (Image Manager, Flash image, Flash online)

For receivers that supports true/hardware multiboot, as this one does, it makes difference which image is in which slot/directory/partition.

I would recommend you take the easy option. Connect a storage device before you switch it on, ensure it's in ext format, then flash your images using the remote.

That's why I asked , because a Google search on how to flash a AB Pulse 4k .
Use a usb FAT32 file system.
Download a recovery image + a full image
Only unpack the recovery file and place this on the USB stick.
You can copy the actual image packed to the root of the USB stick.
Plug the USB stick to the back panel USB port.
Power on the box.
Push and hold the power button of the RC and the recovery image will be flashed.
Immediately after flashing the recovery image the box boots in the recovery mode.
From the recovery mode you can now flash the actual (local) image on the stick.
You can leave the USB stick in the box. Convenient if you have a proper backup

Also seen this

1. Download the image of your choice to your computer.

2. Format a USB flash drive to FAT32 (do not use a quick format!). Use a low-capacity USB drive (I use an old 1GB Kingston drive).

3. Copy the compressed image to the USB drive.

4. Power off the handset using the back button.

5. Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port on the front of the receiver.

6. Power on the set-top box using the power button on the back and simultaneously press and hold the power button on the remote control until you see the power menu.

7. Three options will appear; we selected the third option (boot menu).

8. A new window will open; select the local flash image.

9. You will see your USB drive automatically select the image on it.

10. Click on the image on the USB drive.

11. Select the slot where you want to install the image. The flashing process will begin.

12. Wait until the flashing is complete; the device will then return to the boot menu.

There you will see the new image you just installed.

13. Select the installed image from the boot menu, and the new image will start.

reboot
See you all on Monday ...

Get the box with vix installed and then all will become clear. Flashing has moved on it’s now 2026. It’s now called “couch” flashing you just do everything online. For example when you are in image manager with vix and press the yellow button it will download an option to select to flash 4 different images. Be patient.

Thanks , but already ordered with no image installed...
It will come with an old Atv image installed (a stripped down version).

Just boot that image, and then use the flash online feature to download a current image from whichever image team you want, most are available from inside openatv, and then reflash the slot with that image.

No need to worry about formatting a usb, weather you need the recovery image or not then.

If needed you can also download and send the image .zip file to /media/hdd/images/

In flash online choose local and choose the image to flash.

Edit you will need a storage device setup if you don't have a hard drive with the box. A USB hard drive or USB stick will be fine depending on if you want to save recordings.

I'm not familiar with openatv external device setup others will provide details if needed.

ok it came with a old EOL of ATV i have mounted both a hdd and a usb in ext format, and paths are correct /media/hdd/images/
i tried the flash online and all that's available is ATV 6.4 EOL no other teams images
i then dl openvix-6.8.003.release-pulse4k_mmc.zip and put in the images/ folder , restarted box but it doesn't show up when i select flash online/local

what next to try

Now I have that AXHD61 and I believe its the same box. I have 4 images.
It is the same box as the AX61 apart from the drivers.
I've flashed my AX61 with a modified Pulse image when I was bored.
Takes me back to when I used to flash my Zgemma H7 with the HD51 image.
......... this was before I discovered you could make your own ViX image if the box isn't officially supported.

Sorted selected recovery menu > boot menu >flash local > HDD... then chose vix image and Linux slot 1...

All good now
So old openatv 6.4 installed by default (EOL) perhaps via terminal opkg update may have updated feeds then newer images available via flash online.
I could be wrong but you got sorted out anyway :)
