Jurgen Klopp has reached an agreement in principle to become the new head coach of Germany's men's national team.

Ken Bates, who has died aged 94, was one of the most colourful, controversial - and highly significant - figures in the modern football era.

Bates was best known for his ownership of Chelsea over more than two decades of turbulence and success, buying the club for £1 in 1982 before selling to Roman Abramovich in a £140m deal in July 2003.

The north London club are in the process of finalising a move for the 24-year-old.

The game averaged 22.1 million viewers and was streamed 12.6 million times across iPlayer, the BBC Sport website and the BBC Sport app.

The 23-year-old will sign a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge, with an option for a further year.

Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association for his role in the Spygate scandal.

The FA said it is "alleged that the head coach acted in an improper manner and/or brought the game into disrepute by directing and/or authorising the observation of training sessions"

In a statement, Southampton said they and Eckert "acknowledge today's charges from the FA relating to a breach of rule E3.1".

The club added: "Tonda and the club will continue to co-operate fully and openly with the FA.

"Our focus remains on preparations for the 2026-27 Championship season. The club remains fully supportive of Tonda and his staff as we work towards our ambition of returning to the Premier League."

Leeds are seeking a goalkeeper after seeing Karl Darlow, who ended the season as No 1, depart on a free transfer to Manchester United.

Newcastle United have agreed a deal worth up to €40million (£34.1m) with Monaco for midfielder Aladji Bamba.

A France Under-20 international, Bamba, who has predominantly played as a defensive midfielder at senior level, has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Monaco since his senior debut last August.

Arsenal have completed the signing of Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis for €40m ($45.8m, £34m).

The 24 year old has signed a five-year contract and will wear the number 17 shirt.
